Saints Cap Moves: $28,318,521 cap space ….. 8 restructures, 3 extensions, 3 pay cut, 1 release [All current cap moves are in OP]

Cutoffs? Don't talk about cutoffs! You kiddin' me? Cutoffs?

The big question is whether Loomis will sign another $10-$15 free agent. He seemed to be panting alot around Cooper Kupp but things are currently quiet. To do that, you would not want to see $18M in cap space, you would want to see about $25M-$30M in cap space.

We still haven’t adjusted Taysom’s deal. Certainly that will have to be addressed at some point.

Yep, Clapp, Landon Young, Williams, and Jones Jr. will become apart of the Top 51 as vet min cap hits above $1.1 million.

They’ll replace the bottom 4 Top 51 cap hits, Hayball, Holker, Hergel and Stalbird, and add on at least $235,000 each to the last 4 $960,000+ hits. $1.12M-$1.5M cap hits.

Chase Young + Reid is about $12.8M.
L. Young, Clapp, Williams and Jones Jr. is additional $940,000+ difference added on to the bottom 4 top 51 cap hits.

13.9M-14M almost swaps out Cam and Tyrann’s $15 million cap savings. Updated cap space will be near the $18.7M range it’s at right now. Likely $1 million more around 19.7M which is still a lot of available space.

Good stuff. Thanks.

Still think we have room to squeeze in one more larger salary if we want to, maybe two if we can successfully chop Taysom down a good bit.

Need to save some money for the draft obviously, and maybe a guy like Wilson gets cut later for some in-season wiggle room.

Our cap space just went up over $10M after Cam's numbers have been released. He's playing on a 1 year $1.255M deal. Our cap space is around $28,000,000 currently before adding Chase Young and Justin Reid

Just realized Justin Reid isn’t inside OTC’s Top 51 table and he’ll replace a top 51 cap hit too like the rest of the UFAs. About 5.3M swapping with a $960k hit. The extra $960k puts the cap space around $23,308,000.

I wonder what’s been holding up Taysom’s reworked deal. His pay cut savings would put the cap room at $32.3M. I guess it’s a matter of finalizing his deal once they’re close in negotiations with another big FA target like a Keenan Allen.

If we’re going after a TE in a trade get Mayer
24 years old, $2.5M hit and 2 years remaining would be a no brainer if Mayer’s available.

$12 million for 30 year old Goedert wouldn’t fit the Saints’ plans. Could be reworked but might as well wait for a release than giving up pick and taking back a high salary even if reduced.

I wish I knew what the Raiders were asking for him. I would swap our 2nd for their 3rd in a heartbeat for him if they would take it

You would do it to assure yourself the acquisition. I do think though that if we were to acquire him, we’d have to address the contract, maybe with a short extension.

30 isn’t that old in tight end years. Should still be able to get three to four good seasons out of him I believe.

Guess it also depends on the health of Moreau and how the staff feels about him in general.

Not a chance I would do that. Drop from #40 to #68? Heck no. That is the equivalent of a top 3-4 pick in the 3rd round for him. He is not worth that at this point. Maybe more like our 2nd 3rd rounder for Mayer and their 4th. That is the equivalent of a middle 4th rounder.

How’d Bryce huff do this last year? Last offseason he finished the year as one of the best pass rushers in win rate in the league.

Who we talking about? I missed the other post
