Saints Cap Moves: $27,329,433 cap space ….. 8 restructures, 3 extensions, 3 pay cut, 1 release [Wilson Jr. reduces salary, Young’s cap updated] (104 Viewers)

You know, that's probably a great point. I thought for sure Wilson would be a goner, but the point you raise makes sense. Unless they get into some sort of bind where they absolutely need his money, he probably sticks around through camp at least.
He was pretty decent for us when his number was called last season.

we have yet to see any details on the reported pay cut for Cam and from what has been reported the Mathieu cut isn’t a real pay cut unless at the end of the upcoming season he doesn’t reach 81% of defensive snaps. Even then the reduction in salary will only credit next years cap.
Mathieu is a pay cut in cap hit and base pay.

Going from a 6.25M base to a 3.5M base and 11.31M cap hit to likely 6.25M cap hit are pay cuts on the team cap.

Even though he’ll probably reach the $6.25 million 80% snaps threshold very easily, it’s set up as incentives on the cap instead of immediate guaranteed money cap hit.

Cam’s new deal is probably set up the same way. Same salary amount but not immediately guaranteed on the cap like it was in the previous contract and have to be earned back in snaps incentives.

Don't hold your breath on cutting Wilson. CKM had him in Dallas and it was his best stop. He knows the system and is fairly cheap
Yep, Wilson had his best year as a slot WR in that offense. He played over 90% of his snaps from the slot and it was that performance that earned him the contract in Miami.

Since he played 86% last year the incentive for 81-90% is likely to be earned so that is a charge now. If he doesn’t get there then the team gets a cap credit next year.

So taking 10 million off Cam’s cap hit looks like we have around 28 million in cap space not including Reid and Young’s new cap hit (showing 2.2 on OTC). Safe to assume they’re around 6 million total additional (4 each) so we should be in the neighborhood of 22 million in cap space and haven’t touched Taysom’s deal yet. Looking very good.

Waiting on a signing this week.
If we don't hear anything I think they will leave Taysom's contract, and he will more than likely be cut.

I think something is coming. Possibly even a trade.

No inside info, just reading the tea leaves. We didn’t open up the space we have just for the sake of it.
