Saints Cap Moves: $30,305,932 cap space ….. 8 restructures, 3 extensions, 3 pay cut, 1 release [All current cap moves are in OP below line]

If you want to tell me comparing two similar players via their PFF grade I totally understand and wouldn’t even present that as an argument. But if you’re saying that someone who ranked 207 out of 219 actually ranks significantly higher and is more average player, I’m not buying it.

So you think PFF knows Nathan Shephard’s assignments and is grading him on how well he occupies his responsibilities for run fits?

If our coaches thought he was essentially the worst DT in the league according to the PFF grade you hold as Bible, do you really think we’d have kept him on the team, much less given him an extension?

We could have just cut him for cap savings. He was one of the few guys where we could have just shed his dollars, but we opted not to and instead in fact want to hold onto him even longer.

You can argue what his number ranking should be all you want but I think they know enough to know if he’s top of the league, middle of the league, or bottom of the league.

The grade didn’t say he was worst in the league lol he overall grade was 188/219 so below average. Run defense was the biggest issue and look at the team. We were one of if not the worst run d last year and collectively last 2-3 years we’ve been terrible. Bresee, Saunders, Shepard all cannot stop the run. Hence why we traded for Godchuax which stoping the run is the only reason he’s in the NFL. If our coaches loved our production in that area no trade would have been made.

Right that part makes sense but it’s still an extension and he’s still on the team when honestly I thought he’d be straight cut. Havent really seen much good play out of him since he’s been here.
True dat and I get it. I don’t like him or Saunders on the d line.

That’s interesting that Nick Underhill is estimating Chase’s year 1 cap hit to be $4.57 million while Mike Triplett is estimating it to be $7.3 million.

Nick’s estimate would put the Saints under the cap at 642k. Mike’s would still have the Saints over the cap at -$1.1 million. Two different estimates is really annoying.

Underhill’s number is the cap charge from the new money, Triplett’s number is new money plus the prorated charges from the old deal.

How do you know what I have or haven’t watched? I never said anything about making fun plays. He can’t stop the run, he gets pushed 2 yard off the LOS immediately.

2024 PFF grades
Overall: 118/219
Pass: 48/219
Rush: 207/219

Let me guess they don’t watch any film either?
LOL you do know that PFF grades are basically useless for DTs right??
