Interesting ... more capable than Peterman anyway, although I still hope Haener is the right guy for QB2 right now

If it's true, and it's most likely not, then it speaks quite a lot to how they feel about Haener's development so thus far. Which is to say probably not good.

I do not care what he did in Pittsburgh, I would absolutely much rather Pickett any day of the week the Haener. However, I would not have wanted to give up anything significant of course.

Neither would be the QB of the future, so I am ok with drafting one this season or next as the long term answer.

Turning down our picks for Eagles doesn't seem wise unless said player has a choice we're he wanted to go. Which I don't blame him.

He wanted to stay in Pennsylvania and/or get closer to New Jersey?

While I have my doubts on the source it wouldn’t be unthinkable -

Pickett is a former first round pick and former NFL starter.

Pickett is a far superior physical prospect than Haener (Pickett is 6’ 3”, 220 lb, Haener is listed optimistically as 6’ 1” 200 lb).

Kubiak may like Pickett over Haener in his system. With his only options being Carr, Peterman, Haener, and Hill if I were Kubiak I’d be looking to bolster my QB room too.

I disagree. Kenny Pickett is no world beater, but he is on a rookie deal, so cheap. Since they only brought in Peterman, who will quite possibly be the 3rd QB, it makes me think they feel pretty good about Haener.

I don't think it says much about Haener. I think it more says that they think Pickett could develop and may be a fit for the new system. Pickett while not a good starting QB has about two years of NFL starter experience and he would come on a cheap deal. It would have given them a year to evaluate Pickett and give Haener another year to learn the NFL and a new offensive system before being counted on as #2.

I think they like Haener as the #2 but he has never taken an NFL snap so you would like a guy with lots of NFL experience at #2 over him if the price is right and it comes along with the ability to evaluate a guy you think might be able to develop into at least a decent NFL starter.

Looks like clickbait. Andrew Fillipponi has a reputation of posting fake rumors for shock

He's even stealing the "Here we go" phase used by Fabrizio Romano who is an Italian international soccer insider who reports on transfers in all the major European soccer leagues. Whenever he has confirmation of a deal he posts "Here we go." He even has a podcast named that.

Looks like he hash tagged the post with Here we go so that people looking for news from Romano would find it on a search and he would get more views and maybe followers.

What exactly did Pickett do in Pittsburgh that Haener cant do in NO? Fail? I think Haener can fail in New Orleans and he should be given the opportunity to if his name is called.

And from what we are hearing about Pickett and how he whined his way out of Pittsburgh because they brought over competition I do not think he would of been a good fit here knowing he'd have Derek Carr standing in his way.

I was hoping the Nate Peterman signing was an indication that they expect Haener to win the #2 job. But reports like this and the one that we were going after Flacco make me wonder. If we felt like we needed someone other than Haener as backup there are much better options out there than Peterman.
