PFT takes information from Mike Silver, that the Saints are interested in Assistant Head Coach of the niners, Brandon Staley, to be their defensive coordinator.

Another candidate will be Tampa's OLB coach George Edwards.

Here the link:

Is George our Rooney Rule guy?
May be. We don't know how serious they are about him.

Mike Silver has strong relations with the 49ers, so I presume that in case of Staley, this should be more than just speculation on his part.

Robert Saleh was picked as defensive coordinator with the niners, it may be uncomfortable for Staley to work under him.

I didn't even know that was a thing when it comes to coordinators until just now...reading that article. I've thought this whole time it was just for HC positions.
Applies to QB coach position as well. This is why getting Moore in here quickly is important. Lots of stuff needs to get done and the combine is only a couple weeks away.

I won't let my major skepticism about Staley cloud my excitement about Kellen. He has the right to pick his staff and I'll support whoever he hires. But it's a bit of a head-scratcher why he'd want to return to the same pairing that was so unsuccessful in L.A.

Ah okay. I didn't know that. Thank you.
