Saints need to draft Jayden Daniels from Lsu (1 Viewer)

Many have been against drafting Daniels because of supposed size or read concerns. But he’s been consistent as a passer all season.

300+ pass yards/3 pass TDs per game isn’t just luck. He’s improved a lot as a passer since last year. He’ll reach his career high in pass yards for a season with 4 games left this year.

Daniels can be a good NFL starting QB with the right OC similar to Hurts. But our OC isn’t a good fit for him.

If he keeps up this level of play he could be a top 5 pick…. Which means we won’t be able to reach him in the teens where we are always stuck without trading up. But I’m for whatever as long as we fire Pete and DA before we ruin another QB.

He's a gamer having a historic season, but his passing ceiling, ball placement ,and pocket presence feels more game manager than franchise QB. His rushing ability is elite, but you'll only have 7 years to capitalize on it before it diminish.

I wish his throwing ability had more wow factor. He's a better Jalen Hurts as a prospect that could command a top team to a Super Bowl run.

This doesn't factor in injury risk, but I typically don't care for it. A player gonna get injured no matter if you get a perfectly healthy player or not.

I've been thinking about us drafting our future QB next year. Maybe a draft guru could make a thread on who would be the best fit for us: Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix, Bo Nix or Cam Ward. They should all be available when we pick in the 1st...possibly 2nd round too.

Daniels on pace to enter the SECCG and bowl games with 37 pass TDs.

He’s improved himself into 2nd round draft stock with a likely 4000/40 pTD/70%/5k total yd season.

JD isn’t the best passer coming out but with our O-line he may be the best fit. JD has improved a lot as a passer since last year and he makes plays with his legs.

The main knock I can see with JD is he is tall and slender and does not like to slide when he runs. Any significant injury to his legs and he could be the next RG3.

IMO, JD, Bo Nix, & Jordan Travis would be the better fits because our O-line is garbage and we will need a QB that can extend/make plays with their legs. If we’re looking for pocket passers, I’d love to see us get Penix.

Penix will probably soar out of our reach, but Jayden should be available.

Caleb and Penix are a lock to be top 3 picks.

Don't forget Drake Maye, Sheduer Sanders, Quinn Ewers.

It's an insanely loaded QB class and we would be insane to not grab a prospect if it's in reach.

I hope we are smart and draft Jayden Daniels. He can escape and throw also. LSU offense looks better than the Saints offense.
Unfortunately the only way that happens is if we fire DA. He would not do that to Carr.

I would love to have Jayden as our QB1. If he gets the Tigers back to the SECCG and wins. You better plan on spending a high first round pick for him. He is starting to move up draft boards. Not as quickly as Burrow did but if this continues plan to use a #10-15 in round 1 to get him.

Daniels is a better version of Lamar Jackson. Jackson was a run first guy at Louisville. That was Daniels last year.

This year he has become a much better, more accurate passer and only runs when the opportunity presents itself.

Jackson was 6'2" - 215 pounds going into the NFL.
Daniels is 6'4" - 209 pounds. He is built leaner than Jackson. If he puts on about 10-12 more pounds of muscle I think will be NFL ready.

He would look great in the Black and Gold but too much has to happen before then.

Yes I have Purple and Gold glasses on but I like him more than several players rated above him such as Drake Maye, Bo Nix, JJ McCarthy, Shadeur Sanders (Although I think he comes back for another year).

In my opinion he should be the 3rd QB off the board behind Caleb Williams and maybe, maybe Michael Pennix.

I'd be shocked if he falls to the 2nd round.
I think mid 2nd-early 3rd is Daniels’ safe range. He’s playing his way into late top 20-late 1st each week though.

Tampa, Seattle, or Rams could consider him in the late teens-20s after he has a great stretch vs Ala, Fla, and the conf. game.

4 teams definitely picking QB in the 1st. Williams, Maye, Ewers and Penix are the top 4, assuming Sanders stays. Other teams could wait until the 2nd rd to get McCarthy, Rattler and Daniels.

If this season plays out like it's going you will need to be a top 6-8 pick to get Jayden Daniels. If he beats Bama in two weeks and gets LSU back to the SECCG, I think he's a top 10 pick.
