Over the years, wide receiver/kick returner Michael Lewis and defensive linemen Willie Whitehead were two of the Saints' model citizens -- on and off the field -- as well as two of the more popular players in the locker room.

So it was no surprise that the classy men took the high road after having their contracts terminated on June 15 -- just one day after the team concluded its off-season training program.

While they were disappointed in being released, Lewis and Whitehead said they were thankful for their careers with the Saints while giving instruction to local youngsters at a summer clinic sponsored by the Willie Whitehead Foundation.
