Saints should go after Brandon Aiyuk, Evan Engram, or Brandin Cooks (1 Viewer)

It’s about to be a ton of available WR options before the trade deadline. Let’s make it happen.

Aiyuk is a beast

Good idea.

Now let us know what do you think will be the compensation of either of these players, and how can you think we can adjust the cap to accomodate their contracts for this and consequent years.

Aiyuk is on his 2nd year of a rookie deal, cooks is on a 1 yr deal with the Texans, not sure about engram, but we can throw a draft pick or player to them.

Aiyuk is an awesome talent. His falling out in SF is beyond puzzling...but he was a 1st Rd pick just 2 yrs ago...acquisition costs would be very high yet.

I brought up Aiyuk in another thread and I’ve been following Aiyuk closely bc I drafted him in FF.. He’s been a complete bust so far this year.

It’s pretty shocking his significant regression and no one seems to understand why.. Even with Kittle out the past couple games, Aiyuk gets barely any targets on a very high snap count. QB has been an issue with the niners but Deebo looks all world while Aiyuk seems to be a Brandon Coleman now. It’s very odd bc last season they appeared about even usage & skill.

Overall I’d be hesitant to trade for Aiyuk now as he’s had little to no production this season when they’re dying for a solid #2 without Kittle, and being it’s only his 2nd year I’m sure they’d want at least a 3rd rounder for him.

While the 9ers can't be happy with Aiyuk the season, I can't see them letting him get away on that deal. He flashed too much potential in his rookie season.

Evan Engram has probably reached the point with the Giants that Jared Cook reached with the Rams. So much potential, so much frustration. Maybe like Cook, Engram will find a larger degree of success elsewhere. I can see the Giants being tired of the roller coaster and wanting to move on. As for Cooks, a future 7th round pick? Dude is one hit away form retirement...and not under contract past this season. If you trade for Cooks, you are doing it with this season in mind. While I haven't minded "going for it" in the past, this season is a "hold em" season for me. Keep the assets and stop kicking the salary cap can down the road.

The Saints have something like $600k in cap space and currently are $54m over the cap in 2022 with just 39 players rostered. What a mess.

Wonder if Cardinals would trade away Fitzgeralds rights. Think he would be perfect security blanket for Winston

Ingram was making $2.5 million. More than Aiyuk's cap number.

As for Cooks:

And for Engram, it would either be an extension or adding voidable years.

As the Saints have proven many times, there are plenty of ways to work it. Nothing is impossible if your motivation is high enough to kick the can.

Wait?

I thought with recent moves…..we were back in pretty good shape?
