Saints interviewed Eagles OC Kellen Moore [ 2nd interview completed on Jan 27 in Philly] (20 Viewers)

This is what I mean. No expectations as far as wins/losses and/or making playoffs.

I would definitely want to see your culture being built and the team rallying behind you, but I don’t care if our record is bad enough to have the 1st overall pick in 26 and 27
Yeah, I don't know about 27 either. 2025 for sure if they are doing a lot of cap clearing. 2026 if they have to do a bit more, but are bringing a few guys in as well. By 2027 I want to see the team competing for the division. I figure by the end of the second season any good coach should have built some identity and showing some serious promise. That is if the front office is doing the hard work of clearing cap and getting out from under older players that needs to be done.

25 pick is already determined

26 pick I want 1st overall (Nuss Buss)

If we’re bad enough to get a top pick in 27 also, fine with me, but that 27-28 season we need to be competing for the playoffs. This is also the first season possible we can have the books cleared and really mold the team with Moore’s players.

It's almost as hard to get the 1st overall pick as it is to win the Super Bowl. Depending on how we approach the off season, I could see it going toward the 1st pick or back to 15 but we're definitely closer to 1st overall than we are to 32nd.

No team does this, that how we got here in the first place. Two years max before we need to see results. If that's the expectation we just need to hire a bridge coach and pay that guy hold down the fort while get things in order. It happens to certain coaches all of the time.
I don't think it would be quite like that and hope it's more of an acknowledgment of the current situation... As in "we understand there's a hole to dig out of and we're giving you time to build us out of it.. even better if you can pull it off earlier than expected."

And then yeah, if he's an absolute disaster after two years then you do what you have to do. It's been a rudderless ship here for a while, I think we'll be able to tell if this is different after a couple of years.

And as a competitor, if I'm interviewing with someone and they aren't demanding a high level of success, day 1, I'm going to wait for someone else who does.
I see the disconnect. There's a difference between:

1) Organizational expectations to which an owner and/or GM holds coaches/scouts accountable.

2) Team expectations to which a coach holds players (and in a good situation, to which team leaders hold their teammates).

Regarding (2) ... if I were a head coach and a player lets on like "Nah ... I know we're not worried about going to the playoffs, so I'm going to take it easy with practice, meetings, film and all that. I can get serious next season" -- of course you come down on that player like a ton of bricks.

Kellen Moore did not overhaul the entire positional staff when he took the eagles job

The post did say he didn't make any chances in his 1st year, so maybe he did after his 1st year? It's a small nitpick, but picking personnel is where some coaches fail. Had Payton not brought in GW, he possibly would have failed as the Saints HC. It wouldn't stop me from hiring him if I liked everything else, though.

People want to go to a winning organization is the only point. And, if you give the impression that you're okay with not winning, that's not a good look. But, I get the point of the OP. And I don't disagree in principle, so maybe my response was maybe a little more harsh than it deserved to be.

Not one of my better days.... apologies.
