If I recall correctly, their preseason rankings have the Saints a tiny favorite over the Chiefs as the best team in the NFL. This performance would seem to back up that preseason prediction.

Im not taking anything away from our Saints. It was outstanding. But it doesn’t happen in a vacuum. The Bucs also just failed to show up to their most important game thus far in the year. It can’t happen this lopsided without some combination of both those things. I think there has to be real trouble on One Buc Place right now.

They may very well mean 2001 but when I hear most sports references about the start of the century, I think they are actually referring to the year 2000.

They are using a DVOA metric which takes into account what was expected based on the teams playing.

The difference is the saints are better coached and more prepared. Great teams don’t lose 38-3. They may lose but they have the ability to make it close. This was truly a route of epic magnitude. You know they weren’t overlooking the saint for the next game. We went into the supposedly NFC favorites home on a night where a dome team should have been destroyed and whipped them in every aspect of the game. And it’s no fluke because we did it in Chicago as well. We are the most talented team in the league as long as Payton doesn’t get cute with play calling

I remember Payton and the Saints really taking it to the Cowboys in 06, in Dallas on MNF, when Payton coached against Parcells. It was an almost perfect game. CSP dropped an onside kick on Parcells right after a TD or to start the second half or something like that. I remember us having a decent size lead.. Parcells just glared across the field at Payton.

I also remember that MNF game against the Patriots in 09 where the Pats pulled Brady in the 4th quarter and there's that famous picture of Brady and BB standing next to each other with their arms folded.

One of the biggest differences on the offensive side of the ball was the number of people drew could throw to. That's how Sean's offense thrives with numerous targets for drew to go to. For weeks drew had no one to throw to and everyone said something's wrong with Brees. He targeted 11 players was it? That's reminiscent of the early years of the brees-peyton era.
