Anyone here with Dish Network? If so, I'd appreciate any thoughts you may have re: the pros/cons. My biggest concern is that if I go with Dish instead of Cox (New Orleans), my service will go out every time it rains. True?

I have Direct (similar technology) and it only goes when it rains pretty hard. (And it's actually more related to weather in the direction of the satellite rather than directly over heard.

When it does go out it's rarely for more than 5 minutes, and that's pretty infrequent. I like it better than Cox.

I was put off when it rained Sunday at the bar I was at and we lost the game for 30 minutes. I won't go with it. I generally never disagree with buzd on technical matters and I have no agenda here. Just do some research on it. My wife refuses to let me get it cause it went down during Big Brother at her friends house when it started raining. It also left a bad taste in my mouth that the vultures at Sams Club swear that that issue has been fixed. I was very close to signing that day.

I admit, losing a Saints game would be a deal breaker, but I can also get the Sunday Ticket feed on my iPhone (which worked great this weekend) and/or computer, and I have another alternative as well (that I would rather not get into here).

I know when I first had DTV a long time ago it seemed to go out all the time. Now it is really rare. I'd say once every few months and then only briefly. I think the technology has just gotten that much better. I had cox cable in florida and it went down all the time, way more than DTV.

I have dish network and it goes out when there is a very light rain.

However, I suspect that my dish needs to be re-aimed at the satellite.

For the love of God, PM me this information..

<<< can't afford DirecTV and Sunday Ticket this year due to adoption expenses..

I have Dish and I lost the last few minutes of the Saints game this past Sunday.
It was raining VERY hard. Light rain never bothers it.

I also thinks it matters where the dish is setup - our dish is protected on 3 sides by our house (it's in a little alcove next to a deck). And it usually only goes out if it rains really hard right at the dish.

I had problems with rain fade for a long time. I thought that's just the way it was. Everybody kept saying that the newer HD dishes drastically reduced the problem, but it happened to me frequently.

It was quite frustrating.

I called them out and the realigned my dish. They put a metal strap on it to keep it from shifting. Since then, it rarely, rarely goes out. To the extent that it's not even worth worrying about it, even during football season.

Factoring in how superior it is to Cox otherwise, it's an easy decision.
