Apple Weather had been steady with forecasts of four to five inches on snowfall in the New Orleans area tomorrow. Specifically, for all that snow to fall in about a 8-12 hour period.

This morning, they tweaked it slightly -- to five or six inches.

I'll believe it when I see it.

EDIT: I mean specifically New Orleans and the southshore suburbs -- when I say "New Orleans area", I don't mean Bogalusa, Folsom, Hammond, and all that.

Yeah my phone is showing the same. The heaviest snow will be on the southshore. 2-4 here in Biloxi.
None east of Pascagoula

New Years Day Snowstorm of 1964
I was just coming to see if anyone mentioned this one and if anyone recalled it. It was before my time, but my parents talk about it now and then.

EDIT: Wait -- your link is not to the New Orleans part of this storm. Off to Google.

EDIT2: In New Orleans, it was New Years Eve 1963. Check out the beginning of this 1964 Sugar Bowl highlight's video -- the Tulane Stadium stands covered in snow:

You'd have to go way back. I was only 22 months old when this storm hit. I obviously don;t remember
it. I have seen the photos my parents took. The snow covered my dads tires . New Orleans received
4 inches,so this one can be a record breaker

My first viewing of my Louisiana husband's family's childhood photo book included picture after picture of them playing in a "snowstorm" in the '60s where there was still clearly grass poking through the snow. I laughed till I realized that this was indeed a rare occurrence. Growing up as a Yankee, dad didn't get the camera out for a snowstorm unless it was over our heads.

There's a lot less video online of this particular New Orleans snow event than I had thought. Peggy Scott Laborde had a little section about the 12/31/1963 snowstorm on one of her New Orleans WYES specials, but it requires a payment to view her documentaries online these days.

Here's a soundless video that WWL-TV hosts:

Yeah, my dad was at work . He told me around noon on New Years eve snow started blowing across Hyw 90.

The Gulfport Yacht club had a party. Those who attended were trapped until Jan 2nd. My former dentist
was one of those.
