So basically our entire OL is injured? To some degree? (1 Viewer)

it was going to happen sooner or later. Just hope with the bye we get rested

They’re banged up, but the guys who are LP likely aren’t any more banged up than any OL this time of year.

This has been our MO this season: give all the OL a break on Wednesdays.

14 games in, it’s bound to be rough...but this seems a little extreme for one position group...not to be Captain Obvious and beat a dead horse on this board, but man I hope we win Sunday so some of these guys can get some major rest...

This is why you have backups. They need to step up. Defense needs to do its thing, special teams has to contribute also. Seriously need the run game this weekend though.

every game is a big game, but this one is quite large.
Why?
We get #1 Seed if we win and 2 weeks of rest before 1 week of preparation for the division game.

W and limited long term injuries is the goal.

Every O'lineman on every NFL team is beat-up at this stage of the season. Will survive this too ...

It's there a particular aspect, in terms of play calling, that we can exploit the Steelers defense?
It's our back up squad better, or is it simply easier, to run block? Do we lean on Line and Ginn more? For power runs, while constantly working the edge with bubble screens and jet sweeps? Giving Drew less. Less deep routes. Not zero, but really set the tempo with run and short crossing and slant routes allowing us to possess the ball and keep Drew upright.
I think our Defense is good enough to allow us some time to get in sync offensively.

Y'all are missing the point, it's not a reg "day off". Saint's have 2 primary backups on IR, as well. We had no OL available on Mon, if there was another injury. Can't stretch the field w/out better pass protection. We love that versatility, but do you really want Taysom Hill as a guard/tackle?
Peat is dinged up in multiple spots. Unger is in concussion protocol. Ramzyck has been struggling w/shoulder& Armstead just hit the list w/an additional knee injury. Bushrod is out(& slipping in performance.) Warford is likely the only typical "walking wounded" like most OL's throughout the league.
This will very likely change the game plan, in every phase, including raiding spec teams.

Was coming here to say this exactly.

add that pretty much every player in the league is pretty much beat up this late in the season, it's especially tough on O-linemen as they typically don't get to rotate out to stay fresh during games. Injuries and fatigue build up over time.

If we win we field Taysom Hill vs. Carolina week 17. Not as QB, I mean ONLY Taysom Hill. In all 3 phases.

I asked Coach Pete today about the 6-days we have to get ready for the Steelers because of our Monday night game. He replied, "At this time of the year, players across the board are exhausted and banged-up. Yes, 1-day less doesn't help, but at this point of the season, it doesn't matter that much." Pete went further, "At this point of the season, most of the players are icing down for 2 days after games to keep inflammation and bleeding down."
