If Michel Thomas is vintage Michael Thomas He will make at least 100 catches this season. That means he will be targeted about 120 times. If Jared Cook catches 80 balls, that means he will be targeted about 105 times. Looking at the game last night, it's pretty easy to see Alvin Kamara will be targeted at least 105 times this season if not more. That's 330 projected targets for the top three guys in this offense. History shows that the Saints functioned at their best When Drew is throwing the ball around 520 times in a season. This only leaves 190 targets for the rest of the skill position guys. Hill, Arnold, & Derby will each get their chances to make grabs so that will likely add up to 50 shot right there. And the Saints have always shown a propensity to spread the wealth in the past. so Murray will probably get 35 targets & line gets half a dozen. So 190- 41 estimated leaves 89 balls for the rest of the receiving group. If Smith gets 50 targets, that laves 39 targets for the rest of the receivers. Not sure where people get that Smith isn't the #2 receiver on this team, but the stats say differently. Assuming there is another #2 receiver on this squad, how many targets do people think this person will get? Just asking a question based on established facts.
