Do not want Cam Jordan back, too old. Legendary player for us, no doubt about it, but its time. Demario turns 36 in a week, another legend for us but 36 is old and the speed of the defense needs major upgrades.

Depending on how our FO decides to handle our salary cap deficit...
They may be on our roster one more year.

In my opinion a switch to a 3-4 Vic Fangio base D would help them & also Tyrann Matthieu.
As others have posted Jordan would get moved inside to play DE, Davis would play ILB, which would help him with his "coverage" issue, & Mattieu would get help with the 2 high shell coverage.

Hiring a DC is the most important decision left for Coach Moore & it will greatly influence his success as a Saints HC...

I want to run a Tampa 2-style defense.

Keep the play in front of the DB so they can use their athleticism to make plays on the ball and not have to chase guys all over the field, leaving voids in the defense.

Chase Young we’re probably going to lose because he’s a FA and will test the market. Once he does that his dead money hits immediately. But releasing Cam is pretty cost prohibitive unless it’s a June 1 cut. Personally I’d rather see if Cam would take a pay cut and team friendly extension to finish his career here. But he’s up against new coaches with no history with him so that’s going to be a tough road to get down. Loomis will be the one to provide that perspective but he tends to go with coaches on these things.

It feels like we’re gonna end up hiring the most “experienced” guy in Staley. I don’t like the hire, but it’s slim pickings this late in the process. I’d rather they take a shot on a young guy as a first time DC, but I’m not sure they will with Moore being a first time HC.

Obviously that would be preferable. But outside of Jordan I don’t see it happening. These guys have agents that want to get paid. Unless they’re about to get cut, don’t want to uproot everything and feeling sentimental like Jordan clearly does I don’t see much chance of that. I hope I’m wrong though.

Disagree on Jordan, his position group is terrible. I do hope he retires after this season, hopefully with enough on his resume to get into the hall.

I also think Foskey and Turner could do well in a pass rushing OLB role.

And our defense is old in several spots and could be upgraded in others. So it's due to be turned over in the next couple of years regardless. I'd say of our current front 7 only Granderson would probably still be here by year 3 with CKM.
