As of November 1,The injury report for the Saints shows the following:
Marshon Lattimore (hamstring)
Rico Payton (back)
Kool-Aid McKinstry (hamstring)
Kendre Miller (hamstring)
Bub Means (ankle)
John Ridgeway (oblique)
The Pelicans:
McCollum (right adductor soreness)
Herb Jones (right shoulder strain)
Trey Murphy (right hamstring strain)
Jordan Hawkins (lower back spasms)
Yves Missi (right abdominal contusion)
Daniel Theis (left ankle soreness)
It occurs to me that’s an awful lot of hamstring and soft tissue injuries. They can be mitigated against with proper conditioning, based on everything I’ve read. Why in the world does a professional athlete have a hamstring injury? Obviously some are susceptible to hamstring problems, but I don’t understand why a team invests in someone who gets a hamstring at the drop of a hat and misses weeks of games and is no help.
If the medical staff is doing its job, why do Saints players wait til June to have surgery for a problem that needed surgery in December? See Michael Thomas 2 years ago.
Maybe I’m off base here, but I understand there is a common medical and training staff between the Saints and the Pelicans, and maybe that needs to be looked at.
