Can You Spot the Deceptive Facebook Post?

Very interesting. I’m on my phone so pasting images would be tedious

The problem has been far reaching. Over the summer, Facebook announced the discovery of hundreds of fake pages and user accounts on its site. Some pages appeared to specifically target Americans with divisive messages, using the same tactics that Russian operatives did to influence voters during the 2016 presidential campaigns.

The thing is, these fake posts end up being shared by so many real people it doesn’t matter in the end.

People have to stop sharing political posts on their Facebook. Just type out your own thoughts and post that, stop laundering propaganda. That’s goes for liberals and conservatives.

Got all 4. It's not that hard if you actually read the meme and post describing.

Problem is... Most don't. They go for the meme without much thought.

Sad commentary on just how lazy many have become regarding figuring out if what they are reading /looking at is real or fake.

In this case, I don't know what would constitute a "fake account"... an account is just an account... unless someone is trying to pretend they are someone else specifically... but really, it is about the message, and people's willingness to be led by the nose and readily confirm their biases, rather than using facts and reason to filter the message.

For example, back in 2016, there was a meme circulating about the wall México built on its southern border with Guatemala (below). Wherever it came from, thousands of people readily accepted the message even tough the image depicted a desert (may be too much to ask for some people to know a bit of geography, I get it :hihi: ).

We get bombarded with this crap every day. But wherever it comes from, it is up to each individual to use facts and reason to filter the crap, and not be ready to accept everything we read or see on the internet simply because it confirms our biases.

Got all 4.

Critical thought is necessary.

Edit: the Transkar indictment is strong.
