A) we know the people that didn’t play that are hurt. There are a few other guys that are really hurt but have been playing anyway. As the losses mount - I think they decide to start sitting out as well. 30% + of the team quit out there today in the 4th Quarter and the majority of what’s left will probably mail it in if/when they lose on Thursday night.

B) the difference between this year and the last couple of years is that aside from Mike T the “core” vets kept their mouths shut and kept fighting hard. Those guys are a year older and are getting phased out so who is going to hold it together?

* My prediction for the future is as follows :

Dennis Allen goes back to Carr after the long week and the back half of their schedule is weak enough that it’s possible to get 6 wins. The blame is placed on the injuries and bad luck. They run it back with some schedule and medical personnel changes and “we’re close” “We can compete for the Division “

I say this because to fire DA and move on from Carr - the person making that call would have to admit ( publicly ) that they were wrong about everything they said over the last 3.5 years.

All of the talk about “the program we’ve built “ and “ we’ve won a lot of games around here “ and “we’ve had a lot of success for a long time in this building “ etc etc

That person would be forced to admit that they were wrong. They signed the wrong people , hired the wrong Head Coach , trusted the wrong people to sign the QB1 and waste money doing it , let the wrong guys leave for other teams , drafted the wrong guys etc etc.

That’s Mickey Loomis. This is a person who believed (last year at least ) and has privately lobbied to be considered for election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I don’t think he’s capable of admitting that stuff. Go rewatch the gum chomping , black dress shirt post season press conference where “ he was ready for this question “ and where he read off the early career records of Tom Landry , Chuck Noll , Bill Walsh and compared those people to Dennis Allen and restated that DA was a “good coach”

There is an off possibility that ML gets made the fall guy and is forced to take a “executive chairman” title ( or he gets fired publicly ) and that would be Lauscha. I think there are 2 people that are untouchable and ML isn’t one of those 2 people.

Lauscha and 1 other person make every decision and are untouchable.

I could actually see that going down like that under the right mix of circumstances. But I can’t see Loomis firing DA and admitting he’s not any good and has never been.

I don’t think whatever happens Thursday night has any impact at all.

I think if Rattler would have lit it up and we won - DA and everyone else involved was prepared to throw Carr under the bus like they did Jameis Winston. That’s why Carr’s people got way out in front of the injury and leaked that it was “bad injury” and they leaked Rattler as the guy.

Sorry for the long winded post.

Dennis really needs to step in and really pull the plug on Loomis, but I think you either need some significant financial downturn or something that culpable embarrasses the franchise.

Cleaning up after Loomis isn't just overnight change. We have no Salary Cap freedom for at least 3 years. Which is really damaging case for Loomis when he had not one opportunity to reset, but two opportunities to reset the cap while obtaining assets for a smoother transition.

Firing a coach and rebuilding now is going to be extremely painful as opposed to doing it two years ago.

Extremely painful as opposed to…. Now? I gotta endure 2 more years of pain to get to the real pain? I’ll have mine now please.

Who's the other Bensel?

Loomis got arrogant and complacent.

Sean had this team humming until Winston and every WR we had got hurt and that team was still better than anything Allen could field.

I was all onboard with going for it with Payton and Winston. But once Payton left it was over. The time to move on was then.

The NFL isn't that complicated. The formula for success is actually relatively simple.

Do you have a top 5, maybe top 10 QB? Yes? Compete and go for it. No? Do you have a top 5 HC? Yes, then continue going for it until you find that QB. No, you don't have a top QB or top HC? Keep drafting QBs until you find one.

Everything else is a waste of time. Carr, Geno Smith, Dalton, dudes like that just set your franchise back for years.

Combine that with the worst HC in the NFL and you get what you get.

Loomis is delusional.

I mean, the dude tried to sign Watson when everyone with a brain knew that was a terrible move. So what's he do? He let's a bottom 5 coach pick the same QB he failed with 10 years ago. And it of course failed again. So he extends said QB.

Insanity.

Your reply makes sense to me

Loomis could have signed Baker Mayfield for 4M in 2023 and instead took Carr for 150M/4yr. Jordan is making a 13M retirement check and gets another in 2025. Kamara is being wasted when he should have been traded last year for a price close to McCaffery. The get right decision was to sign a cheap QB, let vets walk, and rebuild. We are 81M in the hole for 2025.

We are so screwed that we will be restructuring Ryan Ramcyzk again in 2025 to get under the cap by league year.

But Loomising! The cap doesn't matter!

Loomis started wanting more credit for the 2009 Superbowl and the consistent winning. He thinks he was the architect of those teams and that Sean got too much credit for winning. There was a reason why in his Hall of Fame Dennis Allen speech he mentioned the 2014 to 2016 7-9 records and he heard the chatter then too. Sean left because there was tension in the building. He left because Mickey thought he had a built in replacement in the building with Dennis Allen. Mickey was and still is convinced that Allen is the answer and he is a genius football mind (Mickey). Problem is Payton was much more of the architect/GM while Benson was still alive. I've been saying for a while now, we have some major issues and DA is only the tip of the iceberg.

You know what is funny? I am going to keep saying this because it deserves to be said:

Everyone against blowing it up and resetting says "WE COULD BECOME THE BROWNS! ALWAYS SEARCHING FOR A QB!!!!"

The Saints started their SEVENTH different QB today since Brees retired.

Spoiler warning: we're already the Browns. We just haven't accepted it yet.

Preach!!

Loomis is untouchable................He and Lauchsha .................So i think he makes a change at head coach........but tries to keep Kubiak............not sure how that can happen

You cannot keep filling your depth with UDFA and bargin bin FA's. That is the major problem with this team and salary cap structure. Saints doesn't have any quality depth due to these issues. Maybe you've found something with Bub Means, but O.line needs another 2 solid players and the entire D.line outside of granderson and Breese needs to be rebuilt.
