Saw that Jake Tapper on CNN was calling out the Eagles' naysayers, stating "The Eagles were right and we love them, not just for being champions, but for proving the naysayers hugely, embarrassingly wrong."

I know it hasn't been THAT long since the Saints won the Super Bowl but I can't remember who/if we kept receipts on anyone. According to Wikipedia, the Colts were favored by five. So the media narrative could have been either "Saints will win" or "Colts in a blow out" I just don't remember. So tell me what you remember.

Mostly what I remember was it was going to be a coronation of Manningā€™s legacy. It was basically the Saints didnā€™t have a chance to beat NFL royalty. This win against the Saints would but him in the GOAT talk. Tom had 3 at the time and this win would give Manning his second. Thatā€™s was always the big playoff game and regular season game Manning V Brady much like Mahomes V Allen is today. It was supposed to be Manningā€™s legacy game.

Farves ankle.....looked like it chewed on the 3 course meal gum at willy wonka's šŸ˜‚

Favorite medical football photo of all time. Would make a good pouch for stealing TANF money. But this of course is not the picture he would text to a reporter he was hot for.

I remember we did a lot of shameless self promotion, renting billboards throughout Miami. It was Seanā€™s way of telling his team that they belong. Brilliant IMO

Speaking of keeping receipts...I wrote this up one year because I got tired of people blindly thinking Peyton was and should've been the clear MVP front runner:

2009- Remember when Brees and Manning shared almost identical numbers in 2009?
  • Manning had 393 completions to Brees's 363.
  • Brees had a completion percentage of 71% and Manning for 69%.
  • Manning had 4,500 yards passing and Brees had 4,388.
  • Drew was 34/4 on TD/INT ratio and Manning was 33/16.

I remember the argument being that Manning did have more yards and completions than Brees and that ultimately he meant more to his team than Brees did to his (at the time they were certain Brees was playing in a 'system'.) When the TD/INT ratio was pointed out it was dismissed as an insignificant stat (but was used against Brees 2 years later in his MVP race against Rodgers.) We all know who meant more for their team...it was the guy who went on to best Manning in the Superbowl that year. But regardless you would think it would've been a co-mvp at best. Or at least the votes would be close right?:

Manning: 39.5

Brees: 7.5

I remember not caring who predicted what and didn't waste my time on "receipts". I just enjoyed the moment as long as I could including the parade. I honestly don't know why anyone would care to rub it in the faces of others, outside of Falcons fans, at a time like that. Just enjoy the moment. Those who were wrong already know they were wrong.

But, focusing on rubbing it in the faces of other fans is on brand for Eagles fans.
