Whew, finally we get to the saints pick. If there are any players not in the poll who anyone thinks should be on there, let me know quick and I will add them.

I think we are seeing a good sampling of players the saints might see at 27. The linebackers are gone in our mock unless you count Anthony Spencer as one. I think he is the best player available, but I dont see the Saints grabbing him now that Grant is signed.

There are several corners available and I think there will be a few there tomorow. If I had to bet I think the saints will go with a corner unless Posluszny or Olsen slip down.

Defensive tackle is a posibility. The fact the Saints missed on Sullivan is absolutely no reason to pass on a good tackle. I dont know much about Harrell, but he should be there.

And then there is Dwayne Jarrett. I think he is a player but i did not like all the shenanigans he was doing on the sidelines doing the Michigan game. I just got bad vibes, like he was mugging it up for the camera while the game was still in doubt.

I am going with Chris Houston. He runs a 4.32 forty and benches 225 27 times. I know its not all about raw ability, but being fast and strong counts for a lot at corner.

1. Oakland - Jamarcus Russell qb lsu

2. Detroit - Brady Quinn qb notre dame

11. San Francisco - Alan Branch dt michigan

Dwayne Jarrett is the BPA and we can get a CB in the second. The 40 is OVERRATED

I went with Aaron Ross, yes, over even my own favorites Harrell and Spencer.

I honestly don't expect Ross to be here tomorrow but if he was the Saints would have to look hard at him. He's the big physical sort of man-cover corner I love. I have serious concerns about the guys concentration/motivation but if Payton and Gibbs can get him to put it together he's arguably up there alongside Revis.

I think some receivers can be relatively slow and still make up for it with route running and good hands.

I think cornerbacks who are relatively slow dont last very long in the NFL. Techinque helps but if a fast guy runs by you all the technique in the world is not going to help. 40 times can be overrated but make up speed for a corner counts for a lot.

I would go corenr first and see if a guy like Craig Davis is ther in the second round. Actually the guy I want in the second round is Rufus Alexander. My boy played some high school ball with Rufus. Rufus is a very active linebacker.

only problem I have with Ross is that he is 25 years old, corners usually take 2-3 years to settle in...he'll be 28 and already nearing the dreaded years. I went with Houston, it's not his 40 i'm impressed with, it was his ability to cover top WR's. Also he is known as the best press cover man in this draft, our DC loves to leave corners on an island and send the house....his bump skills and makeup speed would be handy in our system.

Overall i'm really hoping for Posluzny to fall, which I think he will.

I would be excited if Ross ends up being the pick at #27.

I would feel leaps and bounds more confident with Aaron Ross over Chris Houston at least. I voted for Harrell, but would be happy with Ross also.

I am going with Ross, because I believe he will be a solid corner, and he can offer us immediate help in the return game.
I'm really glad it's not me who has to make the decision though, because I honestly like a lot of these guys.

Not only do we need to draft a conerback, but Aaron is the bpa on that list

I'd pick David Harris, but he's not on the list. So I went w/ Harrell.

On Mel's "final mock" tonight, he has moved Harris all the way from the second round up to #12 to the Buffalo Bills. Talk about flying up out of nowhere. He also states the Patsys really want Harris, too. It's starting to sound unlikely he'll be available at #27 after all. Too bad, because it sure sounded like Payton wanted him on his team.

I'm split on this poll: I can't decide between piece of work and Jarrett, though Harrell is still the mix as well. Thank heaven I'm not a GM...more power to those guys.:worthy:
