Been waiting for this one and almost started it myself when the Ireland appreciation thread was started the other day but didn't want to be an ******* about it.
He really has done a good job last year and so far this year. We're not even done yet and I think we'll have another signing or two that are both winners. Ultimately though, it comes down to Loomis and Harley being able to find a way to sign the guys Fontenot presents them with. Suh seems to be the biggest target we've got left, and if there's going to be a bidding war, I just don't think we can compete with what we've got left on the cap unless we manage a hell of a lot of restructures or can get him to sign a contract that has a lot of incentives and bonus money to spread across the length of deal.
With Jeff Ireland likely to move on to bigger and better things, we need some smart football people to manage personnel decisions. Loomis is great in the front office but he doesn’t have a football background. And Sean Payton’s record on player personnel is spotty, which is why ireland was brought on in the first place.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve never heard of Terry Fontenot. But let’s hope that he and others like him stay on and advance in the organization....
That’s the long version of “dilly, dilly!”
