Early but right now it looks sensational. Jayden Daniels has blown away expectations and will win Rookie of the Year. Under Payton's tutelage, Bo Nix is leading Denver to the postseason and will get some votes for ROY. After a slow start, Drake Maye is impressing people in New England and looks like their future quarterback. Caleb Williams has not looked as impressive as the others, but the Chicago organization is a mess and the talent is there. Some on this board made fun of Atlanta picking Michael Penix--I did not, and he looked very good yesterday, though it was against the Giants. During the draft, I was not high on J.J. McCarthy (or especially high on Nix). Because of injury, McCarthy has not played, though he is with the right organization for success.
I will go back to the Penix pick, who was selected after the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins in free agency. Something Pat Kirwan says repeatedly is the lesson he was taught by Dick Steinberg--never pass on a quarterback on whom you have a legitimate first-round grade because the position is just so important and has so much value.
