The Falcons may just be in some trouble regarding Cousins (Merged) (1 Viewer)

It appears from a report by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Atlanta had conversations with Kirk Cousins regarding his medical history prior to it being legal to do so which was Monday at noon E.T. yet they agreed to a negotiated contract within 90 minutes to pay Cousins $100 Million Dollars guaranteed. Common sense would suggest that Atlanta not only had been negotiating with Cousins prior to the legal period but also was privy to his medical background.

During his introductory press conference Cousins admitted to speaking with the Falcons head athletic trainer on Tuesday. League rules don't allow that. The Chiefs were penalized a 3rd round draft choice for tampering 8 years ago.

Should Atlanta be penalized a draft pick for this? It may be commonplace for teams to cheat and bend the rules but to openly admit it should come with consequences. A 3rd round draft choice might not be the end all considering the Clowns would probably have given a 3rd in a trade to acquire Cousins had that been necessary, but from my point of view it's a loss of a valuable pick, nonetheless. Make them forfeit their 2024 1st Round Pick! Those Dirty Birds!

So, the Falcons feel the need to cheat even before the new league year began. Go figure. Thoughts?

Everyone knows itā€™s happening. They added the legal tampering period in hopes it stopped or slowed it down. All they did was speed up the timeline. Itā€™s hard to punish one when they all do it. When deals start coming out the minute the window hits it doesnā€™t take a genius to figure it out. They donā€™t even attempt to hide it.

They should get the same penalty as the Dolphins!

I say two 1sts, two 2nds, Cousins and Pitts suspended for 8 games, and Raheem Morris suspended for the season is fair punishment.

We canā€™t be having our game disrespected like this.
This would certainly be the case for the Saints if tampering occurred.

ATL will probably get a slap on the wrist. SMH.
