I saw this video on YT as well and it brought back some memories. There are many full hours of vintage MTV on YT. You know, back when it was an actual music channel, lol.

We didn't even get cable until several years after MTV launched. So I did not see this live. But I did know that Video Killed the Radio Star was the first video ever played on MTV.

I think we got cable TV in 1983 because I recall it being the year before the Cubs won the NL East in 1984.

But I'm not sure I watched MTV for a year or so after we got cable.

We only had about 3 or 4 channels until I was a jr in high school. We got something like an otr receiver that gave us some other channels in 82ish, so I missed it too.
