So there is a theme running through many threads about Mickey not caring about the fans and/or being some accomplice to DA’s fecklessness
- is this based on anything specific or is it just fan’s anger creating a narrative and then other fans just repeating it until it seems like an actual thing

It seems prevalent enough to suggest that I missed something, but it feels like I’m just reading spleens and not an actual story

The main thing is his competence looks questionable over the last few years, with bad hirings, bad trades and bad drafting. His attitude seems to have changed to fit this new reality, defensive and blinkered, stubborn and dismissive of opposing viewpoints and just lately, with his Carr/Brees comparisons, delusional.

I suppose it’s him pumping up the head coach and staying the course - despite the fact that there are fans handing out “Fire Dennis Allen” shirts at games, home attendance that has dropped significantly due to frustration and the teams poor play and a fan/coach relationship that is so bad - they don’t even introduce the coach anymore at home games to prevent rampant booing at the mention of his name.

I don’t know if that’s what the belief came from. Just citing some examples of why the fan base might be angry at Loomis and feel like he’s not seeing what they are seeing.

I think it is a combination of things, including decision-making, team performance, and his nonchalant attitude toward the fans' frustration.
Hiring DA was a questionable decision, and boaderline lazy considering his previous record as a HC.
The team is not doing well under Allen (not debatable)
He responds to fans/media questions like a guy who has a job for life.

When he said “we’ll see the true characters of this team over the nect 7 games” was clear he didn’t know what was going on

Are you sure? The best football of the season was played at the end of the season and the true character did show itself.

It also highlighted who needs to go.

His attitude seems to have changed to fit this new reality,
this might be the crux (and I guess what I was wondering)
So many of these things for fans seem to go:
1) I’m disappointed with the way things are going
2) now I’m frustrated soon to get angry
3) I need a focus to my anger
4) my anger has grown and nothing has gotten better, now I need to make this about morals and personal shortcomings

We don’t get much access to Mickey which gets us a lot of room to move on from assessments about him as a GM to judgments about him as a person

It’s an unfortunate part of lots of discourse

When Mickey hired DA he highlighted continuity as the driver. He said we wanted to keep the culture in place. He also made personnel decisions that align with winning now. That has not worked.

Before the Falcons game, he states we have some culture work to do. That would imply that the culture has changed for the negative. AND it happen under DA. Now the same leader (DA) that broke the culture is expected to turn it around???

His messages and actions are inconsistent. Makes me feel he is out of touch or has too much pride to admit wrong. Neither are positive for the future of the franchise. Just my opinion and understand/open to others.

Problem with sniffing out narratives is that if one agrees with the underlying premise, they end up with a case of anosmia.

A lot of fans associate Loomis with the Payton era but they also forget that he was GM during most of the Haslett era as well. Well I remember that and therefore I am not surprised by what we are seeing. Teams that are mediocre that could or could not make the playoffs based on a few bounces here or there. However that was a different time. The organization caught lightening in a bottle with Payton/Brees. They showed what that this organization could be Super Bowl contenders and actually won one, something most of us dreamed about but never thought was possible. The bar has been raised but the organization seems to be satisfied with the old way which is mediocity. I guess the only positive is that the majority of the league is in the same boat and that's the way the NFL wants it.

All spleen, no story.
