Fellow WhoDats:

Not only does this video take you from the beginning:

Legislators lobbying for preseason games in NOLA as early as 1963, but…

…gives a ton of behind-the-scenes actions that most don’t know. The story ends with LombardiGras in early 2010.

Put it this way: Most WhoDats will learn more about the Black & Gold” as the narrator provides details while he strolls down “Memory Lane” with you.

Grab your popcorn, and enjoy the ride. :munch:

WHO DAT!!!!!

In the introductory segment, I learned that Congressman Hale Boggs lost support back home for supporting Civil Rights legislation in the 60’s. His push to get an NFL team in New Orleans helped to endear him to his constituents once again.

There’s a whole lot more intriguing info condensed into this documentary.

Great post, this is brilliant and a must-watch for any true Saints fan.

Agh the season finale in '83 - absolutely broke my heart. Vince Ferragamo remains my most hated player in NFL history :)

That shot at 37:38 - iconic!

I know he was a good man, but I hated Bum's decision not to kick a FG with one of the best kickers in history was just plain dumb.....

Also our own QB's (Stabler and Wilson) did more damage to us than ole Vince, they threw 2 pick sixes.....

Just reading about it now, that Lansford FG was the only offensive points by the Rams in the game, the 2 pick sixes and a return.....

The definition of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory....

I don’t know if im Imagining it but didn’t Lansford’s kick start going wide and then bent back just enough to shave the upright and go in. Sickener

I don't remember for sure but it wouldn't surprise me, I don't want to see it again though.....

Man... Thanks so much for sharing that! It was an emotional trip down memory lane for sure. Those Bum and Mora teams were so memorable for me and I felt like I knew every player's number during those years. I may be biased but I still think those uniforms were the best! Then the Payton/Brees years came and it was nonstop chills. I remembered where I was at for all of those moments.. and several in the Dome. I did forget that Brees broke the Unitas record against the very team that discarded him lol. And how ironic that they sealed their first Superbowl win against the son... of the face of our franchise during all those early lean years. Watching those golden years with Payton and Brees was so bittersweet. An era that for me... is sadly gone forever. Also, it wouldn't have been complete without hearing Buddy D call Charlton Heston... "Carlton Heston" 😂
