Disclaimer - Derek Carr is the starting Quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. I am merely questioning the timing and circumstances around one Spencer Rattler.

Carr is here for this remainder of this and next season. With us being a quadrillion dollars over the cap next year , I seriously doubt the roster will resemble anything like what it currently does.

Yet and still , future paydays are coming due. Chris Olave , Shaheed , Bresee, Young , Taylor are the next crop of talent and have to be paid as well.

Then there’s the question whether this coaching staff will survive long enough for Rattler to ever make the push to QB1.

It’s quite possible he never gets an opportunity here because we have committed so much to making Carr work that if it fails , the next coaching staff walks right past him.

I like Haener. Tough. Competitive. But he's not accurate and doesn't have an NFL arm. I don't see him beyond an NFL backup. Rattler has it. Tough. Competitive. A legit NFL arm. Experience from a young age in the limelight. If Carr can't go, I wish they would give Rattler a shot.

I wouldn’t go that far.
Time to face the music, we've put off the inevitable for as long as we could. Until we take our pill, we'll be mediocre...not terrible, not great, but right smack dab in the middle of NFL purgatory where we'll be able to add maybe the 2nd best Guard in the draft for 3 years straight before the bottom falls completely out.

We laughed at Atlanta...we really did, hell I did as well joking that Fontenot was just a NOLA plant bent on destroying the Falcons from the inside. They took their poison pill, righted their books and now they're years ahead of us.

Spencer is 24 years old. He's not some super young JR early declare green rookie. He's ready now. The longer we wait - the greater the odds he never even gets a look here. I agree with the OP and most of the posts here... before we have this conversation... things at the top need to be more conducive to his success - (unless Carr is really injured badly)... which is unfortunate - because his best years are now.... and I don't see any immediate change coming.

Atlanta ain’t winning a championship with Cousins.
They may win a division title or two, but they’re not gonna be hoisting a Lombardi.

Predicting at least six years is a bit of a overstatement considering that the division has no long term QB plan.

Drew Brees would never leave a game for an Oblique. He wants to wear a Red jersey, and, he may need one

I said before the season, that Atlanta put together a sneaky good team, and all they needed was a QB. I got laughed at.

Only one team wins the Super Bowl every year. At this point, I’m desperate only for a division title. We are literally at a low point

If hoisting a SB is the sole measure of institutional improvement, then what the hell are we waiting on to jettison this staff that we know isn't going to hoist one?

no long term QB plan, you say....I think the only team worst off QB wise than us is Carolina.

ATL: They have a post-Cousins plan in place - Penix
TB: Baker isn't that old and as much as it burns my butt to say, he's not playing so bad nowadays. Amazing what a QB on a downslope can do if given an opportunity to play through it and get better.
