NFL Titans release cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (6 Viewers)

Azuwie is a good player who’s been injury prone: torn ACL in 2022, herniated disc in 2023, and a groin injury cost him 14 9 games in 2024.

EDIT: Corrected to 9 games missed in '24.

So you’re saying we should keep him far away from our trainers/medical staff?

He started 7 games in 2024 (played in 8) so he would have "only" missed 9 games... but he's definitely had his issues.
Wherever he ends up seems like it would be a "prove it" type deal.

Honestly, with Yiadom signed, it might make sense for us to take a flyer on the guy (assuming CKM has a good opinion of the guy going back to his days in Dallas), to be the guy who comes in on the outside when Alontae moves inside to the slot... if we're looking to shore up CB before the draft.

Flippin' Wikipedia has him at three games played last season.

Pro Football Reference, though, is a more authoritative source and backs up what you wrote. Thanks for the correction.

It's not so much games missed, anyway -- it's that disc. Back injuries don't just vanish. Also, players can recover well these days from knee ligament tears ... but I worry about loss of speed afterwards, even if subtle.

Agree on the back injuries, plus he's a CB with a back and leg injuries in his past.

That was my thought on Yiadom. If you could bring in a starting caliber player like Awuzie on a right contract, if/when he does miss time, you've got a very capable player in Yiadom ready to go.

Alontae Taylor
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Chidobe Awuzie
Isaac Yiadom
Rico Payton .... looks like a pretty good group on paper

Yep. I know first hand, a herniated disc is no joke. The worst pain, even shoots down all the way into your right knee to where you can barely walk depending on what vertebrae gets impacted. Never truly goes away, just subsides for awhile until you harshly aggravate it again.
