He’s earned his spot after the Panthers game. Won’t break off a huge gain often, but he runs hard, keeps his legs moving and he’s great in pass protection. He’s a solid RB3 for us while JW is out and dependable depth for the rest of the season.

Not that his game was in any way comparable to what I'm referencing, but it's nice to see the Saints not suffer a similar loss that they did with Latavius Murray.

And in reference to what Sigler said, Jones already got paid the full amount for the games he suited up for. That's how elevations work.

12 carries for 34 yards and he is compared (but not comparable?) to the Latavius Murray loss. I don’t know. He is a depth to the depth guy. He is ST or inactive when Kamara, Miller and Williams are on the 53.

It’s the greatest 2.8 ypc, 34 yard game in NFL history.

Taysom had 3 less carries and 41 more yards.

Some of us appreciate pass blocking.

The Saints can still move Tony Jones Jr to the PS one more time this season, and then later sign him to the active roster. His stats (besides the 2 TDs) are very pedestrian but he has done well in pass protection.

YPC doesn’t always tell everything. Tony Jones’ touches were mainly short yardage situation. He did his job as a short yard back. He was even better with picking up blitzes in pass protection for Carr.

Run blocking’s also more consistent for Taysom’s direct snaps than it is for traditional RB run plays. There’s 9-10 blockers for Taysom, while he immediately locates the hole from behind center, vs. 6 blockers for RBs who are establishing momentum from handoffs behind inconsistent run blocking.

None of our RBs are popping off good gains until several carries in, including AK in preseason. Jones’ first carry this season was a 5 yard gain on a toss play in his only touch in week 1 though, fwiw.
