We quite obviously made the wrong call with Trey, but he only had the one yr of production. Before that he was under sized and injured most of the time. He bulked up and remained healthy, so we lost out. It is only in hindsight that parting with him, seems like an incompetent decision.
 
When you play with a raging dumpster fire of a cap situation you're going to get burned repeatedly.

That wasn't the cap. That was poor decision making. The Saints have signed who they wanted. They chose potential over performance. They backed the draft position instead of the player.

As the then DC, this has Dennis Allen written all over it.

It wasn't a matter of Davenport vs T-Rex.

It was a matter of Marcus Williams vs T-Rex. The Saints could only afford to keep one, they chose Williams, who they then lost in free agency exactly one season later :covri:
