Sheesh.

4am had winds which had to be 50 to 60mph here in covington. Still without power since 445am.

Dang.

Dang, didnt realize it was ripping that bad. I've been on gulf coast playing the severe side.

Yea, I had stuff blown all over the place in Gretna, street definitely looks like a strong tropical storm came through. Lapalco has a few power poles down near the Harvey Bridge

fa real
Woke up several times to trees hitting up against the windows
I just knew that my porch was going to be a wreck this morning but it was spared
Twigs and branches all over the street
Power out for about 4 hours

I slept through it.
You sound like my wife. The winds howling outside our bedroom window were so loud it woke me up around 3:30 am, and they didn't die down until 4 am. She slept through the whole thing and then asked me this morning why there were so many branches and leaves down on our street. :D

I'm at the best Western in Covington. Dog agility trial at St Tammany fairgrounds all weekend. No hot water in am. Still no power. No hot water. Power won't be back till tomorrow.
No refund. No other hotel to move to.
Windows do open so it's cool. But, lots of noise outside

My parents live in Lacombe and they said they've been without power since Friday night/early Saturday morning. CLECO said they're not expecting power to be back on until 4:00 PM Sunday. Thank God it's cooler out.

I mean, what the hell? Did the weather service drop the ball on this or did it whip up last minute before landfall?

It hit TS status Friday late afternoon and it was moving fast. I woke up while the winds were howling, and our power blinked. We lost internet for few hours, but that's about it.

I think we ( between Hammond and slide) caught a squall line and just happened to be the ONLY one this thing created.

But the real issue was it rained all day Friday which caused the ground to be just too soft and weak to hold some trees down in the winds.
