Is B.R. simply his destination, or is it a convenient stop an hour or so down Airline drive while he's here for other matters?

Saints have already replaced the Williams position.

Yes but something weird is going on with Malcolm Jenkins. He reduced his salary for the last two years of his contract to the vet minimum and received nothing in return for it. Maybe he is just doing the team a solid to giving them cap space because he wants to win more than make money. But that doesn't seem very likely.

But, this is also what Brees did before he retired last year. It allows the team to have cap space and then designate Jenkins as a post June cut and split the cap hit from his dead money over two years.

So, if Jenkins does end up retiring, Mathieu would be an excellent option at SS for us. In fact, he probably fits better at SS in our system than at FS.

I'd put my money on PJ being back to play that role (he actually excelled there). Besides, players don't hide FA visits. If he's going to LSU, he's going to LSU.

I'm not saying or even implying that is why he is going to Baton Rouge. I was just replying to the comment that we don't need him because we already replaced Marcus Williams at FS.

And maybe he wouldn't be the choice to replace Jenkins, but the fact that he is still on the market tells me that he won't cost as much as he thought he could get and there was talk before free agency started that he might end up with the Saints. Combine that with word that Malcom Jenkins took an out of nowhere pay cut right before free agency started and there is some smoke. Whether it turns out to be anything I don't know.

They would if the team looking at him has strict protocols about disclosing visits.

Notice over the past several years that we rarely hear of visits anymore from the team or through "sources," do we? We just tend to sign players out the blue, quite frequently.

Well, maybe we are going all in on D. It would certainly be going against the NFL tide. We are not going to out-offense the rest of the NFL. Defense could be spooky good in September.

I'd you're looking to get the most impact for the cap space that we have left signing him would certainly fit the bill. Unlimited ability to disguise coverage between him, Maye and Ceedy Deuce.
