Kellen Moore said he took this job with the idea that Derek Carr would be his QB (1 Viewer)

I wonder if Moore knew how unpopular that would be with the fanbase when he took the job?

Some of the Carr criticism is over the top and unwarranted. Some is valid. But the fact is that he is not well liked even among most that are okay with him being the starting QB this year. In fact, I would guess that many that are fine with him starting this year would not be fine with him starting next year.

So I wonder if Moore realised this and just doesn't care or if this will come as a bit of a surprise to him?
I really don't think CKM is losing sleep over what the fanbase thinks of his QB choice. All he cares about is winning, and that's JUST what he should be caring about.
A lot of the fan base has gone off the deep end of ridiculous when it comes to DC and it's making us look like petty unknowledgeable fans.

If we win 10-11 games this yr and a playoff game only the most shallow, vindictive, stubborn fans will continue their misguided hate for DC.
And guess what if that happens DC will be back in 26 and rightfully so

There it is folks. The "scuttle butt"

I said when Russini posted her click bait podcast that KM didn't like the QB room and that would be why he turned down the job that it was bogus. And I caught trash for saying that, EVERYTHING that CKM has said since he took the job refutes everything she said.

Let's try to understand that Carr gives Moore a better chance to establish his system.

It will be really hard for Rattler or a rookie to absorb and install of the information coming.

Moore can use Carr to stabilize the offensive line, to explain coverage, routes, etc to the members of the offense.

That does not mean that Carr is the quarterback of the future, it means that Carr is the best option they have to start the process.
NO and I mean NO 34 yrs old QB is the future of ANY team. And NOBODY is saying that DC IS the future

That goes without saying that Moore will try to adapt to his strengths, as he has with three other different guys he's worked with (two pocket guys and a hybrid). Due to my bias Carr bias, I am curious to what his QB prototype is. In terms of a QB factory, I can't really think of anyone who accomplished that outside Holgrum with GB in the 90s. I'm sure he'll try and give Ratt a good look but reps will be sparse trying to implement a new system.

I wondered what he QB prototype is as well. Building around Carr requires a stout line and weapons since Carr doesn't have the running ability like Hurts, but it's as easier to sub a QB in as there are more guys like Carr than like Hurts.

The QB factory might take a year or two to establish for the reason you stated about installing CKM's system or building a system since be builds around the QB's strengths.

I'm going full in on supporting Carr since CKM believes in him, I will as well.

The go-to will now be “what else is he supposed to say?”

Not sure why it’s hard to accept that Kellen Moore simply wants Carr to be his starting QB in 2025.
We have a coaching staff that can make the playoffs with Carr.
You are asking why it's hard for them to accept CKM wants DC to be the starter in 25 from people that blasted him for eating @ Chipolte's with his family and didn't take them to Commanders for his 1st meal and said he wears eyeliner??? . A lot of this fan base is petty and says and does ridiculous things

To be fair, the Broncos kept Wilson for a year as the starting QB with a new HC before they cut him. That could end of being the exact same situation here.
And you can bet that if SP and Wilson had won 9-10 games in that 1st yr Wilson would have been the starter this past yr

My guess is that since CKM has worked with both a drop back passer with some mobility and a guy that is maybe a better runner than passer it will be in the middle. Like a Burrow /Mahomes. A gut that can buy time and look downfield AND can take off when it's the best option. But I think that a QB with outstanding vision is the ticket

I agree.

Well if he is good enough for Kellen Moore, he is good enough for me. Let’s extend him through 2028. None of these void years nonsense. It is imperative to keep a premier QB as long as possible through their prime years.
LOL how can someone clown you for this post??? SMH This fan base is going to the toilet

A decision was made that we were better off paying Carr to play than paying him to be cut. If we had cut him, we would have simply had to restructure a different group of players and "kicked the can" on them for when they're eventually cut. Instead, we don't have to restructure Cam, TM, Taysom, etc. and when it comes time for them to be cut and for Carr to be cut, we carry the same amount of dead money as the alternative.

I don't understand what is so shocking about this decision. Cut all these players in a year or two and take the dead money hit with Carr on the team in 2025, or cut all those players (minus Carr) in a year or two and take a similar dead money hit with Carr off the team.

The decision was quite simply "do we want Carr to on our team in 2025." In light of the fact that he's the best QB on our roster and paying even MORE for a FA QB that is likely of equal ability at best is a ridiculous decision, this is the obvious outcome.
