Something to keep in mind to try to not overreact to every report. Every interviewee in the search isn’t meant to be a big name or slam dunk candidate. A wide open search will have supposed underwhelming candidates to have a legitimate process. That can allow them to select the best hire after gathering as much information as possible.

Haener trained with Gruden in the offseason so everyone in the pic has a connection to Gruden. No need to go down that rabbit hole.

Even if Loomis already has a handshake deal with his choice for head coach, he is still going to interview a dozen candidates. Any GM must make it look like it was a legitimate search for the best coach available. I’d be surprised if the new door plaque for the head coach office isn’t already engraved.
