Yes. However, I wonder if they should take their time and increase the candidate pool. If JAX and DAL make hires this weekend there could be benefits in waiting.

I think they bring in Moore and Brady too next week... My understanding is they can still interview even if they are going to the Super Bowl as long as it's in the first week and not the second week.

My take is that from all that I have gathered is that McCarthy is the front-runner. He may not have been but when he walked away from the table in Dallas he became that. MM may have back channelled our interest before the Dallas talks started. I think MM wants the Saints job 1st , because of Mrs B and ML's reputation of having patience and giving the HC what he wants . So MM is not taking any interviews until he sees what happens with us.


I think we have McCarthy in the back pocket but ML is going through with the interview process on the other we have requested to satisfy the Rooney rule and to see if someone just comes in and blows them away

IMHO we will interview ,Brady, Moore early next wk and unless they blow the committee away we hire MM by the end of the week. I think Kingsbury stays in Wash another yr

Time to make this hire ASAP so we can get to business, plus Senior Bowl is coming up in a few days.

Agreed. If operating in the name of due diligence, you get the Brady and Moore interviews done early next week. Stack those two against each other and come away with the best young HC candidate, then finally stack that person up against McCarthy, and come away with a final decision by Thursday.

I have a feeling that we are going to do what most teams seem to be doing though - the guy we plan to hire will have a scheduled “interview,” but it’ll actually be a contract negotiation day.

Pay close attention to the sequence of all the events that transpire these next few days, as it could provide subtle clues as to our intentions.

We have plenty of data on all these guys…this is just some final confirmation type stuff.

Sorry I have not kept up but you would have thought as we near the end of January we would have gotten a coach excited to take this job? All I’m hearing is the only guy that wants the job is Rizzi. Underhill even mentioned it. So what is going on? How in the hel do the Raiders get a head coach before the Saints?
