Vic Fangio talking smack to Bobby Hebert (Funny) (38 Viewers)

He said it in jest, but Vic ain't really wrong, folks!

Yup, the 2 things that got totally exposed in the Mora Saints teams....

1) Mora's inability as a HC to play aggressive offensively and take chances, along with failures to adjust to what the opposing D is doing....
2) When the heat got turned up in the playoffs it exposed ole Bobby as a streaky passer that lacked real leadership skills.....

It's astounding that they never won a playoff game with that D.....

I don't think Mora ever won a playoff game with Manning either, so maybe it wasn't the QB.

Carl Smith was a pain at offensive coordinator, too conservative for me in the playoffs.

He was always conservative. For some reason we thought it was cool to win games 9-6 in the regular season then we'd expect our offense to score 40 points in the playoffs. That's not how we were built. Our defense was only a championship defense in the regular season.

Our D didnā€™t exactly shut teams down in the playoffs. Except the Bears in 1990 and that was Walsh at QB.
It was the lack of what they call today "complimentary football" that was the issue with the Mora-era teams.

Focusing on just the playoff losses from the following two years with Hebert, we see a 10-0 lead blown against the 'Clowns because the offense couldn't help the defense out by padding the lead. The Dome Patrol's weak spot was the secondary. They couldn't hang with the 'Clowns' speed. A year later, an even bigger lead blown (20-7) against the Eagles for pretty much the same reason. The hard-working but pedestrian secondary couldn't hang with the Eagles' playmakers.

We had no such playmakers on offense to counter it with.

And don't forget about the Vikings game in 87. What did we lose 44-10?
