Vilma is in Detroit taking psyical (1 Viewer)

Yeah well Shaun Rogers is a big man and would occupy that NT gap very nicly for the Jets. I think 2 possible traded guys we were looking at could be finding new homes via each other. Not one but two potential trades off the board.

Altho talks may soon after start heating up about Dwayne Robertson being shipped out of New York so maybe we can make a play at him.

Because its not Vilma's choice? This would be a trade.

I thought Vilma was allowed to seek a trade by the Jets? Wouldn't that mean that he and his agent would be actively pursuing a place they would like to be traded to? (Of course, I know that the teams would have to agree on compensation... but Vilma was allowed to seek a trade partner by the Jets)

First thing he needs to do is find suitors, no one will give up squat until they examine his knee, and even after all this the Jets would still have to accept the offer from Detriot. I have a feeling based on timing (combine all the GM and coaches are there and meet) I think they probably talked about Rogers who reports were saying would be moved (or they wanted him moved) by the end of the week. So this is what I am concluding. But Vilma dosen;t have any say where he goes, he will go to the highest bidder, he just need to go an take physicals anywhere he would potentially land before they pony up anything.

Agreed, ulitmately... the Jets have to agree on the compensation (and will likely go to the highest bidder).... but at the same time.... Vilma's camp was allowed to seek the trade... so I was just pointing out that it's not completely out of Vilma's (and his agent's) hands. Remember... If Vilma and his new team can't agree on a future contract (and that's part of the trade equation)... there may be no trade.

There is another thread discussing the same thing, a merge would be desired.

IF it is only about draft choices, then we have the lead, we are picking earlier then Detroit in each round.

But it is said that the lions want to dump Roy Williams too. If for some reason the lions include either Rogers or Williams in the trade, then we have nothing to do.

I can see this trade happening:

To Detroit: Jon Vilma and Dewayne Robertson
To New York: Roy Williams and Sean Rogers

Not too shabby for either team.

i read about a three way trade with denver involved.
denver gets : robertson
new york gets : rogers
detroit gets : 2nd round pick ( broncos ) , foxworth ( and now vilma ? )

No GermanSaint,

This one was one trade that I could see, not a rumor.

I think this rumoured deal you are including could make some sense for Detroit because of the second rounder. Frankly, Foxworth has been a disappointment.

I am not sure about the Jets, because they would be getting Robertson for Rogers. Rogers wouldn't even start in New York. They have already a quality 3-4 nose tackle in Sione Pouha.

quality NT in pouha ? when i can trust some jets fans , he is a dissapointment and not the best fit for a 3-4 NT , maybe there are planning to test him as a DE

@foxworth : he is just a gimmick and maybe they ( broncos ) just planning to take a corner high.... the lions secondary nearly is horrid as ours, i can see him playing some nickel there.

I have heard exactly the opposite about Pouha, but anyway, if Rogers would start then the trade would make sense for everybody.

Indeed, Denver is almost in the same situation as ours, defensive wise. I am sure they will pick defense often in the draft, but good thing is that we are picking earlier. I am glad Denver is willing to give up their second rounder, I have been worried of them trying to jump and pick ahead of us in the first round.
