I didn't have an issue with it but there seems to be a lot of folks that were disappointed that key members of the team were not participating in the first day of voluntary OTAs.

That's just click bait, something to get you to click on an article about the Saints, this is nothing new (Vets sitting out OTA's). and I'm sure the Saints are not the only team who's vets are not at "Voluntary" OTA's.

To be honest there's no article talking about this. I'm just observing what I have seen on social media and what certain radio guys have been saying.

To me it makes no difference. Vets know what they are doing, and what’s the point of a vet going out there and getting banged up? This is a place for the young guys to show the coaching staff what they have and some ideas to move forward. Who needs to see what Lattimore can do in April/may?

I'm speaking more in general. Clicking on a sight or viewing a channel is all the same thing, stories are created to attract traffic.

That's the nature of the industry.

Our long-time vets know the playbook and such and don't need to risk it. But veterans new to the team or recovering were there: Winston and Mathieu were there. I don't know if Jarvis Landry was there. But this is a time for rookies and young players to get a close look from the coaches. I am glad Jameis was there.

If this were a new coach with a new system and a new culture, then I'd be concerned. At this point the benefit of the doubt seems to be appropriate. Now if we go 6-11 and this happens again next year, then I'd be disappointed.

Hard to say. Have vets on the other 31 teams pretty much been attending OTAs? If so, then, yes, I'd say it's a concern that a number of Saints vets didn't show. Some of them, like Taysom, are rehabbing injuries, so I can see why they were excused. I know DA said he was satisfied with the explanations of the vets who chose not to attend, so it may be a non-issue. But, like I said, this is one of those things where I'd need more context to know if this is due to some kind of lack of respect for the new coach or a lack of veteran leadership, or just par for the course around the league.
