I know it’s loaded this year but worried Loomis won’t take the L on Carr after 1 season but what about 2025 2 drafts from now
Saints will probably be a 5 win team at best next season . Oldest team in the league getting even older . And the schedule they will actually play real NFL teams next season .

Maybe 25 is the year they can get a QB in the draft

It really depends. There will generally be a couple of QB’s that are considered top first round picks. Then you have guys that slide to late in the first round like, Dan Marino,Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson that become stars. Or others that everyone completely miss on like Brady.

The last group you don’t see coming are guys projected to go in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th round when their senior season starts then they have a huge senior year and shoot up draft boards. Recent examples are two Heisman trophy winners Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels.

The long answer is you just don’t know yet.

The bigger concern are the first round busts which are more prevalent that the guys that become stars.

I know many different GMs, Coaches, and Owners have been through this team, but they have still only taken a single QB in the top two rounds in the history of the franchise. That was Archie Manning in 1971. The highest since was Garret Grayson in the 3rd almost 9 years ago. While I would love to see this team actually draft a QB and develop them into a capable NFL starter, I think our front office is allergic to the idea until proven otherwise.

The Saints used a number 1 pick in the 1981 Supplemental Draft to acquire QB Dave Wilson from Illinois. That was only 42 years ago.

The best QBs in the NFL share some impressive traits, that tip sucess to the team that selects him. Assuming he can make all the throws and at least has the wheels to get out of trouble.

1) Processes and understands information quickly.

2) Can throw the ball from different platforms.

3) Situational awareness.

4) Rather walk on broken glass than lose.

I think 24 is the year to step up. There are some good ones. If we don't get one of the top 3 then we should grab a next tier in the 2nd. Heck one of the 2nd tier could end up being the best of the class.
