What happened to the kick tracer? (1 Viewer)

It was there. The data popped up in a box in the upper corner of the screen after every FG attempt. It showed trajectory, speed and the "good from" yardage. In fact, I believe it was Lutz's last FG where it said it would have been good from 60 yards, that one of the 2 commentators even mentioned how far out it would have been good for according to the kick tracker.

I did not see a tracer line though if that's what you're asking about.

It's not yet a tracer that you see like the golf shots. It's more like the stat cast that shows velocity launch angle and distance. I noticed when Lutz kicked a FG they said it would been good from 60 yards, even though it was a lesser distance.

I imagine if a kicker shanks a missed kick then they could replay the path. But a football is slower and easier to follow than a sliced golf shot or baseball home run.

They need a ball that changes color as it crosses the plane of the goal posts. Sometimes it's hard to tell if the ball went thru before or after fading outside the posts.

Well, the lead up to it seemed to indicate it would trace the flight of the kick like a golf shot. I thought that was supposed to be the major selling point.

That's a cool idea. They could absolutely do that.

An easy solution is to have red lasers in the two goal uprights that illuminate upwards during a FG. If the ball breaks the laser it's obvious to everybody the ball is out, no points.
