True he is only avg 3.9 a carry but most of that is due to limited carries/looks. One can also assume that the fact that we have never trailed this year can be accounted to the fact that in the first half of each game is the only time we pretty much have had to open up our play book. “I” believe that Bush accounts for our playbook when it is needed to be opened up. Because our defense has improved along with our running game it takes out the need to play him in the 2nd half unless it’s a definite passing situation. I personally think he deserves a round of applause for accepting his limited role thus far and applaud him for his improved running… these are just my opinions, opinions that I am quite fond of lol.

bush has only marginally improved. I think his "improvement" is mostly due to limited touches. for his career the more carries he gets the less effective he becomes.

not to mention thomas has improved 1.1 ypc over last year and bell is running at a solid 4.4 ypc.

the kind of questions that needs to be asked.. @diat i agree to some degree but i still think he should be used a lil bit more... it just frustrates me when fans of other teams say "wow what a bust", until i point out that he has received limited touches this year and that we havent really needed him because of our lead. the reason he was getting all thoses touches in previous years is because we were playing from behind. Now we are using him in a way he can excell... will it be coinsidence that our closest contest he will be the most productive back... just wait

why should bush get more touches when he is the least efficient back? do you take carries from a 5.9 ypc thomas or a 4.4 ypc bell to give to a 3.9 ypc bush? I dont, and neither does payton, thats why bush is getting less touches. he just isnt a good runner. he can do other things well but running the ball is just not his thing it seems. look at his career stats. he is decent his first 5 carries, then the next 5 a little worse, then the next 5 terrible. he hasnt shown anything to date thats says "give him more carries".

Who cares? We're 5-0 and all of our running backs are doing well. Also, Reggie Bush isn't leaving any time soon, as the coaching staff/Brees value him too much. It's true that he's not the next Barry Sanders like we all wanted him to be...but he's still an integral part of one of the best offenses this league has ever seen.

Every single **** thread it's the same 5-6 people bashing Bush. We get it. You don't like him. Can we move past this already? Every single time someone makes any kind of thread praising him, we don't need you tearing him down.

He's a Saint. You don't have to think he's perfect, but support our players or get the **** out already.

I think he is doing well, and I think his limited role is playing a part in it. Good on Sean Payton for finding the right # of touches.

I think it's a fair question. There are a lot of people who want him to put up 2006 numbers without a powerback being on the field and after major surgery. I like that he's being brought along slowly. Give him limited touches, keep him healthy but keep him conditioned and game worthy. We have plenty of weapons on the field and don't need to rush him back to win games. The longer he takes to come back completely, the more likely he's going to be healthy for December and the off-season--and the more likely that he's going to be completely healthy for 2010.

Take your time, Reggie--your supporters will support you no matter what (we don't want you ending up like Deuce!) and your detractors would hate you if you were getting 20 ypc. Just get better and blow the socks off the competitors on the field with you later!

I totally disagree. I think if you give some of the carries to Bush that Bell and Pierre are getting right now with heath evans blocking like a mad man, he would be producing on the same level. Furthermore, If you put pierre and Bell in Reggie's role and take away their lead blockers and try to run them out of passsing formations they wouldn't do nearly as well as Reggie is doing. Just my opinion.

I still think Bush shouldn't be the guy getting those power formation carries because he is fumble prone and he will probably get injured, but I think he would suprise people if given the opportunity to get more carries. Our improved blocking is the main reason why i say this.
