The Saints host the Broncos tonight on TNF. This one should be an obvious choice for any Saints fan. However, some folks may already be looking forward to next year, the draft position, and a possible coaching change. For me, Saints!
EDIT: Well, now that we all know how that went the season is moving into a point of despair with its salvation depending on a multi game win streak and its demise nearly hinging on single game elimination. The immediate, short-term, and long-term outlook of this team is hard to differentiate at this point. Bless Our Boys!
The NFL is barely beyond one-third of the 2024 season with plenty of football left to play and the separation of teams by record is already becoming apparent. Some of the front runners may fall back a bit and a bottom tier team may still rise up but it's obvious most of those will remain who they are at this point. The teams in the middle will be the biggest to rise or fall as the season progresses. By Week 10 the contenders and pretenders will show themselves a good bit more.
Week 7 Matchups
NE (1-5) vs JAX (1-5) - A breakfast matchup that will surely ruin an appetite. A game across the pond that features two of the worst teams in the NFL this season. It's a desperation game for both teams. One will rise from the bottom of the league standings. The other will remain there. The talent is in JAX. The desire to win may be in NE. The outcome most likely won't move the needle for either team for the 2024 season. The loser will be in better position for the 2025 draft. Patriots for me.
SEA (3-3) @ ATL (4-2) - If misery loves company is truly a thing, then there is no doubt who any Saints fan would want to lose in this one. Down with the Dirty Birds.
TEN (1-4) @ BUF (4-2) - An AFC matchup between a wounded bunch of Titan who'll most likely find the bill coming due this week. BUF got better this week. Go Bills.
CIN (2-4) @ CLE (2-4) - An AFCN matchup between the two bottom feeders. Burrow and Chase are more fun to watch. Mr. Bingle for me!
HOU (5-1) @ GB (4=2) - GB LB Edgerrin Cooper is from Folsom, La. I'm all for him. Otherwise, as a matter of principle, I'd prefer to see the Texans wallop the Pack.
MIA (2-3) @ IND (3-3) - An AFC matchup with both teams missing their starting QBs. I'd prefer to see the Colts have little bit of Luck in this one. Lap the Fish!
DET (4-1) @ MIN (5-0) - An NFCN matchup between two of the better teams in the league. Who knew Darnold has a twin? Or did his bulb just come on? It's hard to believe the Lions have been roaring for three years straight now. They've got a good ringmaster. I'd like to see him serve up some Campbells soup. Motor City!
PHI (3-2) @ NYG (2-4) - An NFCE matchup. Iggles are more talented overall. Would you believe the G-Men won the last meeting in January? A Giants Win for me.
LV (2-4) @ LAR (1-4) - I wouldn't bet against McVay in this one but I'd like to see the boys from Vegas Flush the Lost Boys season down the toilet. Raiders!
CAR (1-5) @ WAS (4-2) - An NFC matchup where it would be nice to see that Cats get Skinned alive. A total beatdown I hope. Jayden Daniels is on fire. Keep it Hot!
KC (5-0) @ SF (3-3) - A rematch of last years SB. Neither team has played to its potential. Both have the ability to win against anybody. FumbleRooski if it must be!
NYJ (2-4) @ PITT (4-2) - An AFC matchup with 2 of the league's biggest Primadonna's at QB with the coach Killa Rodgers and Flip Wilson getting his first start of the season. Tomlin called Russ the night Pitt made a Steal of a trade deal when they acquired Fields to assure him that he would be the Starter. Supposedly the competition in training camp was close but Fields got the starting job only Just by default with Russ not being able to play due to a calf injury. At this point it doesn't seem fair that Fields is being demoted. He hasn't played great, but he hasn't played poorly either. He has thrown 5 TDs against only 1 Int. and has 5 rushing TDs, the most of any QB in the league to date. Russ will have to be cookin' in this one or the fans will be dishing him out. For me, Steelers after Russ is replaced at half and Fields returns to win it.
BAL (4-2) @ TB (4-2) - The 1st game of a Monday Night double-header. More on that in a minute. I'm all in on a Rave concert taking over that pirate ship. Go BAL!
LAC (3-2) @ ARZ (2-4) - In normal times you want to go with the AFC team. Same here for me. I'd get a Charge out of Herbert tossing Murray. Go Bolts!
Teams On BYE This Week - CHI, DAL
NOTE:
Regarding the Monday Night Double Header. What are the NFL schedule makers thinking? It's bad enough that some fans have to watch their teams play a Sunday game a daybreak but to have 2 games on a Monday Night, a night in which most people have to get up and go to work the next morning, with kickoffs separated by a mere 45 minutes with 7:15 and 8:00 kickoffs, makes little to no sense to me. One game will end somewhere between 10:00 and 10:30 and the other between 11:00 and 11:30 CST. If either game goes into overtime those games could go beyond Midnight. This has got to be the dumbest scheduling of all. My take - Play one game. Kickoff no later than 7:15. 6:45 would be better. Game over right around 10 pm.
If they want to present a double header at night it would make more sense to do it on Sunday Night, imo. They could have the 1st game kickoff at 6:15 and the 2nd one kickoff at 7:15. The 1st game would be following the few late afternoon games. No wait for football junkies. Continuation of pigskin play without any delay.
Any different Teams you'd prefer to win?
