Who missed the old draft desks and helmet phones? (1 Viewer)

When we lived in NJ, we would go to the draft when it was held at the Marriott Marquis. It was easy to get in, not nearly the huge production it is now, and the draft choices would walk around after their moment on stage. We loved sitting with the Jets fans because they'd boo everything and everyone, and we'd all make fun of Mel Kiper's hair, hopefully loud enough to be heard on ESPN. One year Drew and I sat with Dave Dixon and had a wonderful conversation with him. The year Willie Roaf was drafted, we went downstairs between rounds for a snack, and he was standing there in the lobby, so we got to chat with him and welcome him to the Saints. That personal aspect is gone now with the lust to turn it into an entertainment event rather than a true sports event. I hardly watch anymore; I just keep up with the picks.

I miss the old format. Rounds 1-3 on Saturday, 4-7 on Sunday.

There was something special about watching the draft all day on a Saturday. The current format feels like the NBA.

Yep, those were the days. Seems like 100 years ago now. :(
