TE is so far the most over looked need on the team, w/ RB and slot WR not far behind. I am less than inspired by the TE choices on the roster. I don't see a proven starter in the bunch. I see them bringing in a vet TE soon. Jamies is is magic w/ TEs, it would be a waste to underwhelm at the TE spot.

Obviously its Trautman. Say what you will about the SECOND YEAR TIGHTEND but he is more of a TE than a QB turned TE/H=Back.
Obviously not! Here's what I will say - he is a #3TE at best. TH will play all over, the TE comment is a smokescreen. We need to draft a TE, it is a higher priority than WR which can be had on the FA market.

Trautman is a good number 2. He showed in second half of year that he is good for 50 catches. Its doubtful Saints get a true No1. TE in the draft with WR being very deficient.

Its strange into an offseason where Defense isnt a worry but the offense is. Its been 16 years since we as fans experienced that.

I don't think the Saints have given up on Troutman either, he will get another chance to prove himself. He just will not have the presure of being TE #1 this time. I really think they will find a pretty good Vet to bring some experience to the young TE position. Cooks would even work. Of all receivers last yr, Cooks had the best YPC avg of any WR or TEs. Jamies would put him to work quickly. And he would come cheap.

Trautman did all the dirty work because Vannett was out and Johnson was learning the position and people are coming down on a 2nd year guy thrust into the starting lineup with the responsibilities of being a blocker (which he was good at) and the only viable recieving option at TE and because he did not have 70 catches for 800yrds and 12 tds he was a flop

These are the same people saying "give Winston some help and watch him perform" but won't use that same logic for other players on the team.

Taysom Hill.
What exactly is Taysom's recovery time line? And when is all this practice to learn to be a TE going take place? By the time he is ready on game day, there will most likely to have to entrenched starters at TE. He will get into the mix, but I don't think he will get many targets coming in cold mid season.

I honestly think Trautman will be the “starting TE” but a role in the offense as an H-Back will be installed rather heavily for Taysom Hill.

The Saints are one of the few teams that still use a FB, and I believe Taysom Hill will also fill that role. Armah was a bust, and the other guy.. Prentice… he’s not it.
