We have been historically terrible at drafting D-linemen in the first round. Why don't we take a look:

1968: Kevin Hardy - 7th pick
Never played for us and never started

1977: Joe Campbell - 7th pick
Another bust, out of the league in 5 years

1987: Shawn Knight - 11th pick
Another bust, played three seasons in the NFL

1989: Wayne Martin - 19th pick
Solid player. Holds second most sacks in saints history

1990: Renaldo Turnbull - 14th pick
Had one great year, played above the nfl average of years

1994: Joe Johnson - 13th pick
Solid player for us. Probably one of the few players that didnt do anything after they played for the saints

2002: Charles Grant - 25th pick
We couldn't wait to dump his overpaid contract

2003: Johnathan Sullivan - 6th pick
Probably the biggest bust in saints history

2004: Will Smith - 18th pick
Still on the team, but probably didnt live up to being first round draftee

2008: Sedrick Ellis - 7th pick
So far not so good, but time yet to prove

2011: Cam Jordan - 24th pick
Still time

25% of our picks in the first round have been on D-line, only a few of those were really good enough to warrant a first round pick on in my opinion. I know we miss on a lot of positions, every team does, but I'm tired of this team banging its head against the first round wall over the same positions over and over.

If he was there at 15, I had a feeling we'd snag him and I'm happy about it.

You ever see a team come back from a 14+ point deficit against the hawks this last year?

We need playmakers in our secondary. This team runs on its offense, give us even a +2 turnover ratio and see what happens. We can get coverage sacks to help our developing but promising defensive front.

Wouldn't mind seeing us steal a DE and pray that honey badger slips to us:hihi:

I'm not that happy with our Choice. We have many major needs on our defense that needs to be meat, if We are going to be competitive with the 49ers,Seahawks,Teaxens,etc. We need players who will Protect Drew from being knocked the hell out and on the other hand players who can get after the QB, with no problem. I Felt we could have gotten one of those players last night, but did not. Now we will have to waite until Sat,to see if we get the right personnel for the Positions, we need filled the most. Just not a good start, when we have limited draft picks.

Cam Jordan has been an excellent pick and proven worthy of where he was selected. Also Hicks, though he was not a first rounder he was the Saints first pick last year and he is going to be amazing this year in the 3-4 scheme.

The top left tackles went 1,2, and 4 respectively. Not sure why you want the team to reach for one if there isn't one there to take. Hell, even two Guards went in the top 10. 6 offensive lineman went in the first 11 picks.

We could have went after one of the two pass rushers, who were available at the time we picked. We could have Chosen Jarvis Jones or Alec Ogletree.

He was the best safety in the draft, and the saints did address the pass rush somewhat with Vic butler, and CB with Keenan lewis. We needed a quality safety. In the third round, no safeties of starting caliber will be there. Vaccaro, Reid, and Elam all went first round. Cyprien will go early second. There are no free agent safeties worth anything we can sign. Those are the best safeties and guys who likely can come in and start for steam right away. Our defense will not improve with the two same safeties in the backfield.

In this draft, there is more likelihood that a starting safety could be found in the 3rd than a starting edge rusher. This is a safety deep draft. Hopefully we can find a diamond in the rough edge rusher and project LT later in the draft.

Pass rusher was no more of a need then Safety when you look at who is currently on the roster.

I'm more comfortable with Butler, Galette, and Wilson at rush backer then I am with Harper and Jenkins at safety.
