With a new coach, comes stats like this. 10 wins is the record for a coach’s inaugural season with the Saints. Only 2 coaches have reached this. Jim Hasslett in 2000 when the Saints won the NFC West and Sean Payton in 2006 when the Saints won the NFC South.
Can Allen tie them or possibly break the record?

I think he has a shot but with that said Allen is the coach but PC is just as important. And let’s remember, SP left and wasn’t fired. He left the coaching staff, great coaching staff with a proven system and stacked with talent and leadership he built over the decade and a half he was here. The coach’s main job is keep the locker room straight and everything else is clock work.

Astonishing that two first year coaches led the Saints to 10 win seasons. Allen has a reasonably good chance to tie those records and a better than average chance to surpass. It all depends on [censored] inj....s.
Even more astonishing that the last two Saints coaches won the division title in their first season.

Here's hoping we can make it 3

That has to already be a record right?

How many teams have had two new head coach win 10 games and a division title their first year?

Much less consecutively. Go for 3!

And both coming right after disastrous seasons/coaches.

This is a different situation because of the roster we have. Anything less than the playoffs (10 wins or so) is underperforming assuming we can stay relatively healthy.

This team has a chance to be special IMO. With a little deserved luck in the injury department, we will be in the hunt for the SB.

hard to predict, b/c when people make guesses now, they probably do so assuming every player would make it through the entire season. A key injury here and there could potentially derail the entire season

That's every and the reason why depth is so important. Also, we don't know if Allen will be able to rally the guys like Sean if we hit a bad stretch.

Yes, there is an extra game, and Sean Payton left the Saints in a good place. He has a excellent shot, and if he does it, it will speak well both of him and of his predecessor.
