Before I begin, this is not in any way a bash on Olave or criticism of any of our players or expressing a desire to trade him. It’s pure opinion gauging based on an idea that popped in my head after reading someone’s tweet about Davante Adam’s getting traded. What I read was saying it’d be right for the Raiders to do it based on how little he’s being utilized and that he only went to LV to play with Carr, and then I also read another that said Loomis should be making a trade to improve the offense.

So… 2 parts to this question: how would you feel about some sort of trade to get Adams if it involves Chris Olave, and what compensation would you consider to be a good deal?

Olave is 23, and Adams is 30. He is in year 2 of a 5yr/$140m contract (no idea of what it’d cost to trade for him), and Olave is on year 2 of a 4yr/$19m contact with the 5th year option with financial details I don’t know about.

Having said that… I’d say Olave plus a 3rd rounder would be the most I’d want to give up to get Adams, but I think it could be done for a 5th if the Raiders wanna do right by him. What say you?

I just answered this question in the game day thread. I don’t see Adams coexisting with MT13. And Olave has too much upside on a rookie deal. I think any possible trade to get Adams involves Mike leaving in that trade.

And no more than a 2nd round pick…. And maybe another player you’d like to off load.

I don’t see how we trade MT with his contract. We need to use our draft picks.

Watch the Saints go crazy tomorrow and trade MT and Olave for Adams, Renfrow and a 2nd and completely meltdown Saintsreport’s servers for a whole week. 🤣

0% chance we trade MT. We literally can’t due to his contract and wouldn’t consider it if his contract wasn’t what it is.

Right now he’s the only tough receiver we have that moves the chains

MT told me on Twitter that he’s ready to be WR4 if it means we got a shot to get to the SB. He wants Adams in New Orleans.

Of course it won’t happen, but I still love that Mike just talks to us like we are one of the guys in the locker room haha

That's not actually CGM's twitter.

Weird though bc people on his Twitter claim it’s him as well, so either he has two accounts or a poser. Lol

But of course people would say it’s a poser, seems like it would be a poser, but also seems like it could be him as well.

Stand with what I said though, he actively engages with me and others on his regular account in the past. I think that’s cool of him

Olave has too much upside plus the youth to trade him for Adams as currently constructed. You might do that if you still had a capable Drew but with what we think is the precarious nature of our Coaching and even QB situation there’s no way I let Olave go for Adams right now.

I wouldn’t trade CGM either. That’s maybe my bias talking but I want him to be a Saint for life and whilst I acknowledge that’s unlikely I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t all co-exist for the rest of this year at least if we were to pursue a move. Shaheed is very good but very raw, and he can easily be a primary deep threat whilst either Olave or CGM can be 2 and slot guys and Adams can be the 1. Theoretically CGM can be 1 and Adams 2 as well. Of the 4 shaheed is the least versatile on paper but obviously has athleticism you just can’t teach or coach up.

Raiders probably want draft picks over players anyway since they don’t look to be going anywhere this season or with their current coaching staff.

In all seriousness, if you think you have a very unique window here where your division and overall conference is weak, and you’re sitting at 4-4, it would really be a “trump card” type move to bring in a guy like Adams.

I guarantee you if we did this, at least in the media’s eyes and also Vegas’, suddenly the Saints and their embarrassment of offensive riches would be viewed as the new clear-cut top contender to unseat the Eagles at the top of the NFC.

If I’m Dennis Allen, and the financials work, I’m blowing up Mickey’s phone tonight begging him to make an offer that Vegas can’t refuse. Lord knows Allen doesn’t have much time left to get things right.

I’d do it for a 2024 2nd and 2025 3rd. I’d even throw in A.T. Perry if they insist on a young WR prospect as a sweetener.
