I'm not here to whitewash the poor/unfortunate choices of the past 10 years, but I think we may want review that front 7 'talent' that was on board when Allen came back into the building:-It's not a coincidence that we lost so much good/great front 7 talent during his tenure here as DC and Head Coach then we did in the previous 9 years. By a large margin.
Could it be his "most natural, obvious position" because he's now on a much better team? There's a difference between not doing well, and not given an opportunity. Rob Ninkovich didn't play well for the Saints. I think John Jenkins was another. Baun didn't really get an opportunity at his most natural, obvious position.
17-0Other than with crystal clear hindsight, does anybody truly think that Baun would have had a ProBowl season in this defense? Would he have elevated the D line to great heights? How many more wins could we have?

People wanted Allen gone (including myself). He's gone. Let him be gone. But this constant rehashing of Baun seemly every week, come on. It's Zack Baun, not LT for crying out loud.
That was a whole different set of coaches ago.The talent issue goes way back because we did the same thing with Rob Ninkovich.
Be honest. Who saw Baun being this goodLoomis plays a role as well, we had to give an extension to Davis to get under the cap this off-season.
Don't forget about the GM that let Drew Brees go, oh wait that wasn't LoomisDon't forget Anzalone. He goes to Detroit and becomes a solid starter.
Look on the bright side. We must be doing an awesome job draftingTed Hedrickson DE
Elliss, Kaden LB
C.J. Gardner-Johnson, S
Marcus Williams, S
Alex Anzalone, LB
Onyemata, David DT
This is the reason our D fell apart this year!
It is happening all to often lately!
Hopefully because of the year Baun & Hedrickson have had in 2024, our FO will look at themselves & do a better job of evaluating the HC's decision when it comes to signing older players to max contracts at the expense of keeping younger players...
Or maybe Hodges is the reason it didn't happen in NOI feel awful for Michael Hodges. Baun didn't go to Philly and become first team All Pro in a single training camp. His development came in New Orleans. Michael Hodges should get all the credit for Baun's development but wont.

They're other teams you can supportIt pisses me off this FO prioritize these large meathead slow pass rushers over slender speed guys. I hate it
Compounding this mismanagement with extending old, declining players as well as poor drafts and you have the current organizational plight.
ML doesn't want a boat rocker and the reason why he let Campbell walk. He wanted a compliant yes man and the reason why DA was groomed over Campbell.
The decision making atop needs a new 'brain' because the one making decisions is
Do you know what league minimum is, I'm sure the saints would have gave him thatStupid to ever let him walk. Did I think he'd turn into this? No, and most people probably didn't. But even as a rotational pass rusher, he was flashing here and worth a near league-minimum deal.
For a team that desperately needed pass rushers, how did it make sense to not re-sign him? Never mind that he has turned into a great full-time LB.
