He was a first round pick only a few years ago, and teams know that New Orleans has some pretty good WRs. If you can't get anything for the guy don't trade him, but that doesn't mean he isn't trade bait.

Just curious, did he have to grasp the offense that much at Tennesse?? Wasn't he pretty good there? What happened? Is it because Payton is such a genius in the Offense that he does not understand the plays?
AP
You keep one safety over the top, spy Bush with a LB, and blitz the hell out of Brees with some or all of the remaining 3 defenders. We've seen that song and dance before. There's a reason Payton loves to work that intermediate passing game, and Devery and Meach are not good at those routes by any stretch of anyone's imagination.
1) Colston
2) Lance Moore
3) Devery
4) Meach
5) Arrington
6) Green/Roby these two will battle it out in TC and one will be the Saints KR next year
Devery took 3 years to show any real production.
Moore took 4 years to show any real production.
Meachem gets one more year. With his physical potential it would be stupid to give up on him at this point. He came out as a junior also, which means that he was likely pretty raw out of college.
Being a 1st rounder doesn't give you superpowers. He was a 1st rounder b/c of his physical ability. It's fair and normal that we would give him 2 seasons (one he spent injured) to learn the pro game just like all our other receivers not named Colston got. The difference between Devery's draft position and Meachem's isn't much, but we didn't give up on Devery and most Saints fans wouldn't of dreamed of getting rid of him after 2005. Not sure why Meach doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt.
If he's bad enough to get rid of, why exactly do you think someone will trade for him?
Show me a single 2nd year WR who had only produced very little yet was then traded for a draft pick.
show me any WR drafted in his draft besides Calvin Johnson, Dwyane Bowe and Breaston actually showing any promise
Devery caught one across the middle for a big play against Atlanta. So yes, he will catch it across the middle. We would be insane to get rid of Devery. It seems Meachum just doesn't have it upstairs. He should be catching on and understanding by now. If we get rid of Meachum, it'll be because he has no smarts, not because of his physical ability.
