Thursday injury report (1 Viewer)

Smith is playing. No question.

I did not think it would, but a guy can hope.

However, he says a finger would not keep him out of a game but it could make him less effective. A finger (depending on the severity) can be a bad injury for a receiver.

I'm sure he is. However, he is not the leading receiver on the Panthers this year. He is second behind Greg Olsen by 38 yards. Did you ever think you'd see a year where Steve Smith started all of the games but was behind a TE in receiving yards? He has one less TD than Olsen too.

Olsen and D-Willy worry me the most. DeAngelo always seems to play well against us, and seeing as we shut him down the 1st game, I fear he's due. If D-Willy gets going, that'll open up the read option garbage as well as the pass. Then our D is looking at another long afternoon.

I've heard that Walker has been full go for awhile and just a healthy scratch. Don't know the validity of that though.

As usual, some posters do enough hyping of a player, in this case Walker, and people start actually believing he's a difference maker...

Just today, Pat Kerwin was talking about teams with good QBs on a rookie deal being able to field a deep team of quality back ups.... Teams with $16 million plus QBs have rookies on the back end of their roster... We've had success with undrafted free agents to the point where we convince ourselves that our depth of undrafted guys and castoffs are actually by choice...

Walker and Foster are high grade talents.

Oh.... Absolutely!!! If you say so despite the fact the 32 other nfl teams disagreed 7 times each....

Foster did play well in preseason but has made no noticeable difference in the games...

Steve Smith finger?

Im pretty sure they're just taking precautions. They'll just shoot him up with cortizone and an anti-inflammatory and get him on the field.

And that is exactly why we can field a competitive team year in and year out and not flash in the pan for a couple of years and then descend to the bowels of cap purgatory, like the Seahawks are about to...

I think it's more of a #s game with walker. He also plays NO but u have Jenkins and Bunk splitting tht role so then u have him and foster competing to b active and foster is the better pass rusher.

Results =walker being a healthy scratch. Which personally I think people read into things like this attempting to rate the talent vs him being inactive or not.

Before Terron Armstead was activated I saw several people saying they doubted they'd see him because he hadn't been activated etc etc.

I think we'll see more of him not year as we are likely to lose Tom johnson.

The same can be said of Colston, Moore, Thomas, Ivory, etc.

I bet you were one of those people saying Galette was hyped up too. Get outta here with your negativity. Of course some undrafted guys will not work out, but some do. We don't live in a perfect world man. We have to keep trying because we've obviously been successful in the past. Success doesn't mean being a superstar either. Success can mean being a decent contributor as in Abdul-Quddus.
